Well its official (if I can call it that) not getting Spyder in 07

Well its official (if I can call it that) I talked to my salesman today after a very long time and he said "please don't get your hopes up anymore, I have to be honest with you. The dealership will only be getting three bikes and one will be a dealer demo. That means you won't be seeing your Spyder until sometime 2008. The dealer demos will be included in the first bikes made this year that; have now changed to only 800 from the original 1000 that we heard , by the end of the year".

That will only leave about 650 bike sent out to customers if every dealer gets a demo which he wasn't so sure on. I have a hard time thinking that they will produce another 1200-1500 for delivery before March 31st 2008 but who knows. He did say there might be a couple of more sent but, because I didn't order until April and not one or two from my dealership my chances look very very low for anything ordered after March 30th 2007.

He was nice about the whole thing and asked me if I wanted to cancel my order and get 100% refund. Of course I said no but I have a horrible pit in my stomach. I hope the information is wrong but for once someone had numbers that made sense to me. I'm just sick and don't know if I should have said okay just stop the bleeding and I'll take the refund. Someone doesn't have to hit me in the head over and over again for me to feel like I made a bad move in this purchase.

Man, I hope you are wrong because there will be some pissed off people out there including me. If I have to wait tell next year they should have told me that from the beginning. At this point I just want the Spyder. I don't want to hear anything about a refund

. Maybe a discount for the wait. This is really getting bad.

Wonder if I should just cut my loses and get something else. aaarrrrrrr

Ordered my spyder 4/7/07 from Michigan dealer. Was led to believe at that time they were getting at least 10 units. I was #7. No problem, will receive fall 07. Same spiel at June demo ride. Spoke to dealer a week ago and was shocked to hear they were only allotted 2 but were going to get three. Wow, he sure was happy!!! Said I might see mine in Jan. 08.

There are a lot of brand new customers who are getting a very bad taste in their mouth for BRP. I'm thinking about really scaleing down my accessory order ($2000) and just wait for after market stuff.

The form I received clearly states that the Spyder will be delivered by March of 08. Dealer cannot guarantee that the delivery will be before March of `08.

I m not attempting to defend either BRP or any dealer. I m just stating what the form I received says.

I m in a bit of a different boat than everyone else,tho. Even if my dealer calls with good news, I m 2100 miles away from home. My wife is going to go and retrieve it and drag it home for me. If it does come before the snow, maybe I ll fly home and ride it a few times. An expensive proposition for a few miles of riding,but it may be unresistable.

The last I heard from my dealer,deliveries are expected before the end of the month. Whether I ll get mine or not, I do not know. My dealer was allotted 4,and one was a demo. I put money down on the third and last one on March 29th.

I think I speak for most of us when I say,"Holy S*!t" another set back?

I kinda felt that producing 1000 units by the end of the year would be difficult to achieve.
We could always simply pull our deposits and move on, relieving a lot of stress concerning these delays and disappointments.
I for one, will hang in there but have no intentions of hiding the fact that I'm not the least bit happy about how this is all working out.

Just my opinion but I see no relation between when an order was placed and the total # of units produced by Dec. If BRP is only shipping 800 units, minus 150 units as demo's then those first 650 people who placed deposits should receive their Spyder. No matter when the deposit was made. It's your place in line not the date you placed the deposit, correct?

I placed my order April 10th and was told I was #4 out of the 8 my dealer was allocated. I wonder if we placed our orders at the same dealership. Mine is in Kissimmee, FL....how about you?

I just got off the phone with the manager at my dealership. He said BRP told him that they would be getting in 2 Spyders by the end of October. They don't count the 3rd one as it will be a demo unit and not for sale. They expect mine (#4) to be in by the end of December.

Actually this makes sense. Full production only started on September 24th. Allowing up to 2 weeks for packing and shipping the bikes to the dealers, this leaves less than 3 weeks for making the Spyders...from the start of production until the end of October. How many units can be produced in less than 3 weeks ? I believe there are 148 dealers who will be getting them x 3 bikes each = 444 Spyders, or less than 148 being manufactured per week. How many can they make per week ?? How many can be shipped per week?

Perhaps BRP is being a bit optimestic when they told each dealer to expect 3 units before the end of October !!
How many will even get to see that small amount ?

Yes mine is in Kissimmee too. The dealership has been great with dealing with both me and my better half. Okay she's a bit harder to deal with than me (hahah). There is still so many unanswered questions that we will all just have to wait and see. I am hoping for the best but excepting the worse (waiting almost a full year). I don't want to add to the rumor mill as this is what is all killing us all right now. My salesman has left the dealership and managerment has only said they know they are getting two Spyders and a dealer demo too. You are in fourth position so you'll probably sitting pretty. Lets just wait and see and one day we'll all get together, have a party and laugh about the wait that hopefully will be well worth it. Happy Riding!!

RANT WARNING
well, this is turning out pretty much how i thought it would . (had a little voice in my head say "DONT DO IT, just wait and see" when i paid my deposit. everytime i try something new the company either goes out of business or discontinues the product after i buy it . figuring that the first run (manuals)would have some issues that need to be worked out . so i ordered the elc transmission thinking that after the manuals come out this year evrybody would do more to test it than BRP . so i could follow the progress of the recalls,updates,mods and so forth . now it looks like most of you that ordered the manual will only have a couple months on your rydes before me . its cool that i'm not the only one that has to wait long time, but i'm getting frustrated with watching all of the hullabaloo about deadlines pushed back and confusion regarding deposits vs place in line vs date deposit paid vs when less than reputable dealers actually placed the orders . i've never heard from my dealer , never recieved any letter from BRP or confirmation of any kind . i did get "a" jacket from my dealer when i went to drop some more cash . i say "A" not "mine" because i got the feeling that he hasnt placed my order (he didnt have access to my order sheet ?) yet(thinking he had time since elec. trans. werent scheduled to be available until 2008 anyway and just gave me the jacket because i had placed a deposit in march . its tough to keep my hopes up when the only good response about the spyder is from peoplwe that dont ride bikes . all of my buddies that ride just keep giving me crap about the"extra wheel" and not leaning and "REAL" riders wont acknowledge me by waving or whatevercause it dosent have 2 wheels . so what, cruisers dont wave at me now on my sportbike BFD (but they still wanna ride it if it ever shows up)Hah not likley after all the abuse. these little bugs better be worth the wait since i couldve gotten 2 bikes for the price
