Okay everyone I got the SE5 back today. They changed the TCS, the GPS, and prior to that there were numerous computer software updates all to no avail. After threatening the Lemon Law with BRP and they finally communicated with the technician at the dealership. All involved discovered that a coil near the computer components needed to be grounded. They used a 10 gauge wire, grounded the coil to stop the frequency interference, and since then no problems. I am now a happy camper. If you experience this, expect a lot of red tape and BRP may act as if have no idea what is going on. Since the coil ground wire was installed the fan activates more frequently, no reverse problems, no shifting problems, and I rode my SE5 for a long time to make sure. Guess what?, no problems for day one. I will keep all updated.

Major,

What year is your spyder? I have the same issue, But my bike has been in the shop for 3 weeks now. I had my spyder for 2 months. Only 2000 miles on it. I am not a happy camper. How long was your bike in the shop?

I hope this isn't an ongoing problem, but it seems like every time someone here takes their bike into the shop they have to wait almost a month to get it back.

No parts in stock, everything backordered.

I had that very same problem with my Buell and it eventually got so tiring that I sold it for a Honda VTR1000. I'll never buy another Buell because of that problem. If the Spyder continues to have this poor a dealer network, I may eventually pass on my purchase.

Been there...done that! I was told it was the solenoid. New ones have the grounding wire. Mine works fine now also. What bothers me is that why hasn't BRP done a recall on everyone that has the SE5's that have that older solenoid?

I know there have been a few with the long service issues, but from reports here on this forum it is not close to "every time someone here takes their bike into the shop they have to wait almost a month to get it back".

I have never had to leave my Spyder at the dealer due to a lack of parts. I have even shown up unannounced and been able to ride away on the same day. The only time it stayed the night at the dealer was because I dropped it off after work one night so they could have it first thing in the morning and it was more convenient for me.

hey guys im hoping you can help me out! i have the same issue! on my se5 im getting check transmission light coming on only when riding and briefly when I press up shift and it doesnt shift from say 2nd to 3rd gear or so, then I press the up button a few more times and it works then the check tranny light goes away,my canam is 08 and has 4000 miles or so only. the question is where exactly does this ground thing go? id like to do it myself since its long out of warranty. the dealer says its 800$ to get this fixed. I hate those bloody dealer/scam artists!

also when I check the code on the display , I just get a 12 and then 24 flash where the mileage odometer section at the bottom is (not where the service manual says it should be displaying error codes toward the middle) anyone know what thats about? the transmission error message goes away and is not active unless im riding it and trying to shift and it doesnt shift.so can someone give me a number to a dealer or repairman who has fixed this and can tell me how to fix it? the dealer I called had no clue about any grounding cable. does canam know about this? it seems to be fixing everyones issue.but I need instructions and a pic to where it goes please. thanks!
