Interesting visit to my dealer

I took a ride yesterday from Pittsburgh up to Akron, NY (nr Buffalo) to visit my dealer - Buck's Motorsports. This is 245 miles from my home, but the nearest dealer?

I had spoken with Jan (Buck?) a few times over the months since I sent him my deposit check on June 22. I never received my certificate, but it IS in the mail. I sense there may have been some confusion but I didn't press him on this point. Jan's first question to me was "where are you on my list?" I assured him I had no access to his list. He thinks I may be #8 on his list out of about 18 he has sold to date. And he told me that after the initial delivery of 4 machines in the next week or two, he is slated to receive 5 units at end-December. This means I could possibly receive one before 07 is over. In any case, he assured me I'd have mine by 3-31, as promised before. Jan told me that the BRP organization is strained by the recent activity, and his normal contact (coordinator) is NOT handling details on the Spyder.

Jan gave me my jacket, which I confirmed fit (XL). Very nice. Complete with BRP hanger!

They had 2 of the demo machines outside on a trailer, waiting to be picked up by another nearby dealer.

A nice day for a 500 mile ride, and another peak at what I am patiently waiting for.

Nice post Stuart. I know we have a lot of anxious folks, but all will be good when everyone is out riding. Delays are unfortunate, but part of life sometimes.

Delays are part of life. I have found that no matter how much patience I pray for, I never get it. Instead, I receive something to be patient for.

And this Spyder fiasco is one helluva lesson in patience.

I am not a patient person, so I tend to avoid situations that could cause me frustration. I was a little late to the Spyder sceen, but probably would not have ordered one in the first shipment anyway because of this. Leading edge is often close to Bleeding edge.

I hope they start showing up very soon.

Bucks motorsports is not the closest dealer to pittsburgh, pioneer motorsports in Chaffee, NY is closer. My father and I ordered ours there in early March and we are #1 and #2 on their list. They have sold over 30 machines to date.
Yes, you are correct - Chaffee is a bit closer to PGH than Akron.

So you and your father will be getting your machines very soon! I'd like to ride up to have a look when they arrive.

Darren, I met your dad when I did the demo ride at Chaffee in early July. I remember him because he said he had been having balance problems with his bike due his short inseam and that I probably had the same problem. (I'm 6'2") I thought that was an interesting perspective. By the way, Stuart Ostroff lives quote close to me in the South Hills. We should have a joint ride when all the smoke clears and everyone has their equipment.

you mite have him confused with some one else, he's never rode a two wheeler. his first motorcycle will be the spyder.never had interest in bikes. nice to know that there are other owners near by, thought we'd be the only ones around. we're big into atv's and snowmobiles, and the spyder fits rite in! maybe start thinking of a local spyder club? be cool to go on group rides
left three messages last week to dealer.(sales person incharge of syder)

with no call back .tells me that every one's delivery except #1 or 2 to each dealer.is probably gonna be much later then dealers are saying.. thats probably the reason i've not received any call back. i would have to drive 90 mi to look him in the eye..no hurry now that winter will probably be in full force by delivery.
I just got off the phone with my dealer, and he said they are getting the first one next week, and the next 2 the week after. He's not sure which color is coming in, but I'm getting yellow.
Nice to know where you stand????
Hope your color comes in as anticipated.
