i'm just curious how much evry1 put down on their order i've read some posts that imply just 1000 and others that imply paid in full . i started with 5000 down and with the SE tranny not coming out til march june or sept 2008 i figured i'd have plenty of time to pay in full before delivery.

BRP required a $1,000 deposit on each Spyder ordered. If you paid less than that I would question if the dealer even submitted your order. If you paid more, BRP got the first $1,000 and the dealer put the rest in his bank account !!

All I can say is that after the $500.00 deposit, I received an email and a letter from BRP congratulating me on my purchase along with the Jacket and an accession#. The dealer has maintained all along that my "place" in line is secure.

Ya got me a bit worried about this whole deposit issue and so I contacted my dealer and according to them. The $1,000.00 deposit was a "recommended" amount from BRP, not a "required" amount. They, the dealer stated that I was still in the #6th spot to receive a Spyder. If this proves inaccurate, there will be hell to pay after waiting nearly 6 months for delivery.

That makes sense. Thanks for hunting down the info.

I was wondering about premium pricing. Mind sharing the prices you were getting?
premium pricing??? you mean over what BRP advertises? .i put $1000 down and was told it was refundable!
dealer's told me you cant make a deposit on new purchase non -refundable ..in ca. which does'nt matter to me because iam buying .i plan to pay the balance in full on delivery. dont know what they would do if someone backed out after receiving jacket then wanted refund..(probably want $1000 for jacket hahah) there was some dealers that told me the setup & freight could be around $2000.. my dealer put on paper that setup &freight would not exceed $1000..maybe less .what was ever one else told about setup ,freight, doc fee's ,etc

Dealers fee's, premium pricing, whatever you choose to call it - I shopped every dealer in AZ and almost every dealer in Southern California. I was quoted anywhere from $900 to over $3,000 above MSRP and before tax and license registration. I went with the $900, was told I'm in their October allotment, and I plan to fly into CA and ride back to southeast AZ. (Bisbee, to be specific). After all my travel expenses I estimate that I still will be over $500 ahead and I'll have a nice 2 day Autumn desert ride!

BTW, some of the dealers lied to me by telling me it was the manufacturer who was charging the premium...

According to the official pre-order work sheet from BRP a deposit of $1,000 is required when the order is placed.

Here is what I paid for the spyder I ordered last April;

$13,999 selling price ($1,000 off MSRP)
$459 freight
$149 prep/assembly
$199 doc fees
$78.50 tag/title
$888.57 Fl sales tax

Total $15,773 OTD

I guess some dealers are greedier than others.

Hello all,
My husband and I each put $1000 deposit on our new Spyders, due to come in in March. The breakdown per machine goes like this:
Sales Price $14,999.00
Freight & Setup $600.00
MI Sales Tax $899.94
License & Title fees $28.00
$16526.94 out the door per machine

I put down $1000
I'm in Tucson and also found all AZ dealers charging $1500 over MSRP plus $1500 freight and prep. I also ended up ordering from a CA dealer for list plus $500 for freight/prep. If you do not take delivery in CA (i.e. have the bike delivered to you in AZ), you will not have to pay CA tax and registration. If you pick it up there, you will... and then have to re-register and pay in AZ! To ship the Spyder to AZ should run about $4-500.
