I haven't heard of a rash of fires with these, but any mechanical item can fail.
It will be interesting to know what caused the specific failure.
Hope your insurance compensates you fairly.

 

I have heard of it happening to some older models but not the newer ones.

 

My 2013 Rs caught fire. Dealer gave me a lame excuse that something got caught up inside.

There a post on YouTube about an older model burning down in Hawai’i.
The problem was with the fuel overflow cannister would leak fuel on a hot engine. The solution people came up with was to do a cannister delete which worked for me.
