New to the form but thought I would share my thoughts. Have ridden every motorcycle known. Street bikes have been my passion for the last 40 years. 60 yrs old now. That being said my buddy got a 2009 spyder a few months back all stock. Rode it a couple times and just seemed very feeble no power. Went online and found very few HP upgrades besides exhaust. Short story bought a 1 owner 10k mile 2008 GS. Cut to the chase. Have built many high HP hot rods. Installed a custom made semi cold air intake, removed stock air filter, drilled 3 2/1/4 holes in airbox. Fired up bike let it run 10mn. Took it out what a difference. Smokes the tire in 3rd now. Throttle response is amazing. Overall HUGE performance increase. (Side Note)
My buddy has a TB, exhaust and tuner, I pull him every gear and at 100 MPH im up 2 bikes.

Update to above. Decided to do a little more testing. Took right side cover off and took it out all three airbox holes open. went through all gears at different rpm's to check throttle response. Pulled over taped up one hole and repeated procedure. When I taped up two holes it was like jackpot. Best response through all gears and rpm's. Decided to tape up 3rd hole and performance fell right off. So at this point looks like custom air filter and one hole drilled in air box is the ticket for this Spyder.
