After 16000 km i need a new back tyre. The tyre is worn in the middle of the tyre , meaning to high pressure. I used 25 psi and have now reduced the pressure to 20 psi. The adelaide dealer quoted $330 for the tyre and $200 for taking the back wheel out, replace the tyre and put the back wheel back again. This is very expensive compared with the price i use to pay for my BMW tyres. Has eny one replaced a back tyre? If so please let me know how much you paid.
Greetings Henk

Exactly same wear and pressure conclusion. 16000 km and worn in middle. Doing same with pressure as you but I think I have 22 psi now. A fitted tyre cost me $400 in Melbourne. Not sure what the breakdown was. A friend with same experience just put a Toyo car tyre on the back. Cost him $179 but he took the wheel into the car dealer (fitted wheels himself). Not sure how it's wearing though.
A pair of new fronts just cost $430 fitted (in Sydney last week) with front right wheel needing alignment as well. Done 23,000 km but would have lasted longer if front RH tyre not scrubbing out on inside. Noticed a few Spyders (> 12,000km ?) with premature wear on front inside of RH tyre. Mine was only noticeable at about 18,000 km.
I may investigate the Toyo option next time (front and back). Good profile rear tyres are available in a few brands but getting a front is not easy. There are some road-legal race tyres (eg Yokohama) available for the rear but they are scarcer and dearer than the original. It's either someting cheap on the front as used on a Matiz (or similar) or an expensive asymetric sports tyre that is possibly dearer that the original.
Note: It just cost me $1200 to reboot my XR6 Turbo Ute (18" wheels) at 32,000 km. That was a bigger shock than my Spyder. Tyres were a bit off their wear indicators but had lost all traction.

People in Australia need to find a supplier in USA to order from. A tire here is around $100 USD.
CalSci windshield, BRP riser, Corbin seats, BRP back rest, GIVI V35 hard bags, Ride On tire sealer and micro balancer

Unfortunately with an exchange rate at about 65c and about US$200 to ship, this comes to about AU$460 plus fitting. Not really an option. Been there when exchange rate was about 93c and it wasn't cost effective. However at that rate lots of other options, including the Hindle, proved a much better buy.

When you get tyres fitted, make sure you remind the dealer all three tyres are directional and require 14-17 psi front and probably 21-24 rear. They'll probably grumble 'cos you're telling them their job. However, I just checked my new front pair; wrong way around with 19 psi one side and 24 psi the other. When I got a puncture fixed a few months ago I had to remind the repairer about direction and pressure.
Have same directional issues with my car.
Also when the front wheel comes off, make sure you lay it down correctly (remind the dealer !!!). Laying it down on the outside WILL cause scratching if not careful.

I need a new back tire and I have been looking at
Cooper Zeon 2XS or Falken Ziex ZE-512. What is the best choice.
I do not want the orginal tire because the rubber is to hard and it's no good on wet ground.
