The wife and I traveled to Penrith from Tassie on the Spyder for the Ulysses AGM. 12 Kms before Goulburn the Spyder suddenly went into Limp Mode, with an array of faults scrolling across the screen. Managed to get into Goulburn and phoned the dealer in Tassie. I then received a call from Simon at BRP. After a discussion with him, where he asked me if I had received my roadside assist package (I had), he told me to ring the number. The NRMA came out and they took the Spyder and us To Proriders in Sydney (about 200Kms) where, after plugging it into the BUDS it was clear that the VCM had died. and the only way to fix it was to replace it. They reckoned that this was the first one that they had heard of failing, which was good, because BRP had one in stock, and it was fitted the next day. The NRMA fixed us up with a hire car, and as we had to be at Valla Beach on the Friday for a Triumph RatBag rally, we extended the hire car till the Monday, when we picked up the Spyder, and continued to Penrith.
I have to say a big thank you to Simon at BRP Australia, who I spoke to more times than I spoke to my wife over the period that the Spyder was laid up, and also for dropping the new VCM off at Proriders. Also to Shaun at Proriders for fixing the problem, and for phoning me where we broke down to try a few roadside fixes.
Simon told me that I am the first to try out the Roadsde assist, and I can say that it worked just as it was supposed to, so, thank you BRP Australia. you really got me out of what could have been a very difficult and costly situation. Just what you need when you are knowhere near a dealer.
