After reading about a lot of steering (DPS) problems / failures with Spyders OS.
I was just wondering if anyone in Oz has had any problems / issues?

Done 21,000km in 10 months. No problems. However I do have the wear issue on the inside of the right-front tyre. And I know the Stability Control, ABS etc. works as I've over-cooked twice going into corners and hit flood waters twice with just the left wheel.

Off to Penrith on Friday 13th (wish me luck) for the Ulysses AGM at Panthers. Be there Monday. That should add a few more kms.

I have inly done 2500klm on my spyder, and as yet, touch wood and all that, have'nt had any problems as yet. I hope that it continues this way.

Must admitt after reading about the steering problems, am definitly a little more wary now and hopefully because of the shared info, if i do have a problem i will be able to correct it without hurting myself.

I have been watching the steering issue with great concern although I have not experienced it nor have any of the Spyder ryders I have spoken to. Still can't understand why BRP is silent about it. :TgC_emoticon142:

For the life of me I can't find anything about these steering problems on the internet. :TgC_emoticon142:

Can someone enlighten me please?

For mine, I have had no trouble, at least that I have been aware of. :)

Hi Redback,

I've been looking into this and other Spyder info as I'm thinking about getting a Spyder so I can entice my wife into the joys of open wheel road experience without the balance/weight issue of a larger 2 wheel tourer.

Have a look at the following forum link...

http://www.spydertalk.com/forums/index.php...amp;hl=steering

...seems that no-one yet in Oz has reported the same problems on Forums here.

There are other posts in the main Spydertalk forum area that also have detailed info - suggest you spend a bit of time looking if you're interested.

This hasn't put me off seriously considering getting a Spyder, and the lack of Oz posts so far also adds to that.

:riding: If you go to the general discussions in the U. S. protion you will find all kinds of messages about the steering. Including it appears there is now a fix by BRP. OH and by the way say high to Ian Kennedy down there for me.

Greetings from Cairns
After 3700kms my steering has an intermittent sticking problem. Turn right, not today, wait a second give it another tug, whoops, too far, over the centre line. This has happened 5 times in a 280k trip. Lucky it seems to be after a straight run and not while coming down the Kuranda range. To be fair I haven't contacted the dealer yet and its 4 hour ride to Townsville for service. I wouldn't normally trya forum but you all need to know. I still love it but I'm spooked.

I would contact the dealer NOW! Reportedly at least one person in the US has ended up in hospital as a result.

It is the first steering issue I have heard of in Oz but I guess it was bound to happen. From the forums it appears that the culprit is the gear position sensor and they have a new part number now that is supposed to fix it. Your dealer should know what to do under warranty.
