I think that the main factor here is:
Not go to the extreme: most people, including me, just want more juice, not a drag racing bike... Therefore reliability on the system is a must.
Numbers are important... Specially if they are going to have different stages... I will be happy with a RELIABLE Daily use stage. I don't want performance that will cause damage and headaches.
Performance with reliability is a must !!!
I really can care less on a monster turbo that is going to get huge numbers but kill the engine.
Finally, the system needs to be affordable...
Yup, i think that covers everything

Ok, addressing a few of your comments:
More juice and not a drag racing bike - my initial impression of the aerocharger kit is that its just as docile as it was before, it just feel like it has a much more responsive motor and If I lay into it.... it makes alot more power. Its not like it has a bigger cam, higher compression, wont idle in traffic, etc... its the same bike, just has some boost behind it for when you lay into it and want to go faster.
Performance and Reliability - those are generally 2 things that depending on the extreme you go to may or may not be used in the same sentence. I wouldnt consider the Aerocharger turbo EXTREME (though my definition of extreme may vary for yours). For example, most companies that offer moderate performance enhancements through blowers, turbos, etc usually can offer ~50% improvement in performance with same or close to same reliability/driveability. I think thats where this kit fits.
Now if you want to go crazy, put on a bigger turbo, add more boost, water/meth, race gas, etc... you will surely lose reliability... IE, try to make a race Spyder out of this... that is NOT what Aerocharger is coming to market with. Just look at their RZR kits and info. Similar deal.
Regarding killing the engine, you can kill the engine by putting bad gas in it, and if you put boost, NOS, etc if you dont know what your doing.. sure you can hurt your engine. But, if you add a "moderate" amount of boost and your compensating with fuel, putting premium gas in, etc.. sure its harder on your motor when you ask for 50% more performance, but its not like your going to drive it for 3,000 miles and need a new motor... I am sure that companies like Aerocharger, Procharger, Vortec, couldn't stay in business if every new car/bike kit they sold killed the motor that it was on. These companies put serious money into R&D to safely do this stuff so the average joe that wants a blower/turbo doesnt hurt himself.
The Aerocharger kit is just that, a packaged, tuned KIT just for the Spyder with fuel management, etc.. you wont find a more complete Spyder performance kit than this - again, look at the Polaris RZR kit they offer, see how complete it is, etc...
My 2... or more like 3 cents.

Well said and I agree 100% I all depends on what kind of power you want and where you use it.

Quick update for Feb1 - Saw the Spyder and talked to the lead engineer on the project. Production charge tubes, header and airbox should be in in the next week or so, the alum catch can looks good, is configured to have a drain through a factory hole thats already in the bottom of every Spyder, BOV configuration has been completed. So hopefully in the next couple of weeks the "final" parts will all be installed, the Spyder can get the final tuning and documentation on the kit install can be completed.
I think that Aerocharger will have a limited number of kits available in February for order, stay tuned to their website for updates: http://www.aerocharg...anam_spyder.php

I agree we need the option to gear the spyder up the thing just revs so hard, I know there is a f/pulley which you can get but it would be better if the rear was able to be changed by using a smaller r/pulley. Power is one thing but being able to use that power is another thing. Thats my 2 cents worth.

Funny you posted this.. I was JUST down at their facility today, I guess there were some delays in anodizing and powdercoating.
But the good news is that all of the charge tubes will be black anodized, the airbox will be powdercoated black as will the end tanks on the intercooler. The Muffler and exhaust will be ceramic coated black (not crappy high heat paint), etc...
The pre-order are supposed to go out very soon.

Next time I am down there I'll take my Flip HD camcorder and get some. I got some pics of the intercooler and airbox today, powdercoating is done, waiting on thermal coating on pipes. I think Andrew from Aerocharger is going to start posting pics on here soon.

Like he said, we finally got the powder coating back and it looks great. Since most of you wanted ceramic coated exhaust this is what we have done. We sent them out at the last minute and we are still waiting to receive them. Assuming we get the parts back, we will ship the pre-orders this week.
