I've just installed a set of Oxford Hot Grips. UK company but I'm sure there are US/Can distributors. Anyway, they fit perfectly on the Spyder. No gluing necessary, just a touch of lighter fluid used as lubricant to slide the grips on (which dries quickly to set them in place), cables are all perfect length and very easy to install with minimum panel removal. Controller sits very well on the bars right next to the gear shift mechanism (SE5) and is held in place with a 3M sticky pad, but the kit also comes with a clutch lever perch bracket so you can install with the SM5. Has 4 heat settings which at 100% produces 55C at the grips. Will switch itself off if you forget and walk away when the battery voltage drops to 11.5v so that there is no danger of not having enough voltage to start the engine. Here's some pics...

They are very good. They do take about 4 minutes to get to temperature but once they are there your hands are so much more comfortable in the wind chill. You still need good winter gloves to protect the back of your hand though. As most winter riders will know, it's the finger tips that suffer the most because while gripping bars the blood doesn't circulate and get down to the tips very well. The heated grips help in keeping the blood in your hand 'over-warm' so the finger tips get a piece of the action!

The higher heat settings are actually too hot to touch without gloves on, and testing them for long periods in a warm garage or in summer can actually damage them so be careful. Best to disconnect from the battery terminals in summer I feel.

They sound great. Might have to find a local dealer or someone online that sells them to the US.

Good write-up on these in webbikeworld.com plus links to distributors here in U.S.

After some riding in heavy rain I can report the sticky pad that comes with this kit is just not strong enough. A roll of 'No More Nails on a roll' will do the job, plus I've sealed all round the control unit with black silicon sealant to stop water getting behind and upsetting the pads.

I'm on my third bike with the third set of Hot Grips (available at www.hotgrips.com). They are dual heat. They keep my hands toasty in these chilly Upstate New York temps (and in the rain). I highly recommend them and would not be without them.

So it has been awhile since this post. How are they working? Any electrical issues? (my spydie is a sensitive girl - and prone to be cranky when messed with) How do these hook into the Spyder wiring? Input - I need Input! Please??

I use the 4-wheeler covers for the entire handgrip. Water Proof and keeps hands warm about $20.00
