I changed my mind about not buying a model. Along the office shelf of one of my motorcycle safety instructors I saw a couple of 1:12 scale sportbike replicas. My instructor talked about them for a good bit before giving me some books to read and sent me on my way.

If Maisto or New Ray or another replica-making company were to sell Spyder replicas, would I be interested in buying and displaying one at the office? Yes, because I talk about the Spyder outside 80% of the time, at it's parked location to passers by, but I don't talk about the Spyder in depth as much at the office. Not many of the office folks walk through the motorcycle lot to get to their cars, so they don't see the Spyder in the corner. Showing folks a model replica might peek their curiousity. A high-grade replica with turning handlebars and pop trunk would cost more, I would buy one in the box, and one for the desk.

Your thoughts?

I would buy one in a New York minute. Doesn't matter what scale, although I would lean toward a larger model.

I would buy several. I collect die-cast models, so it would be a must for me. I have the big dealer display poster framed and hanging in my cube at work.

But alas... every car I have had that I wanted a scale model of -- none exist. This includes my Porsche 944 (non-turbo), my Grand Am SC/T, and of course now the Spyder. I also want to find an Orange HHR for my hubby. I bought him a black Avalanche when he had that truck. I have about 50+ cars and motorcycles in my collection at home.

How many would be interested in a painted wood model replica? What price range would you be willing to pay? I am working with a company that might be interested in manufacturing them.

Does anyone know where I can find a drawing with the dimensions of the Spyder?

OK, here is the response I received for having a wood model of the Spyder.

Yes we can customize your Wood Model Motorcycle to the amount of $205.00 plus $48.00 Air Parcel Shipping. However, if you order 20 pcs we can offer you a discount for the model. If you are interested please advise us so that we can include it in our work schedule.

Here is the website: http://stores.ebay.c...ore-and-Factory

So now who is serious about a handcrafted wood model?

This survey has shown favorable results.

For a wooden model, the cost is out of my budget. Miasto and Blu Ray sell the 1:12 scale models for $12.99, the 1:18 scale models for $9.99. Given they have a million boxes, the cost is very low. Introducing a Spyder model to the company and waiting for their answer would be the next challenge.

If the Spyder from Transformers 2 is released as a scale model on the shelves, if it looks good, and I mean "good," issue resolved.

Another option would be to ask BRP to produce a replica line, and sell units to every interested rider. Hmm.

BRP's replica line could depend on what rights agreements they "possibly" signed with Hasbro to use thier now "shared" branding with Tranformers. We could very well be stuck with only a plastic Transformer.
