Mark,

Brian the tech here has had this happen a few times, he grabs the main thicker black cable you can feel and see from under your steering column area and gives it a tug with a pair of needle nose and most the time they pop right open.

Maybe this will help

Good info for spyder owners and maybe people that just might want to get into the trunk. I think ideas should have been emailed to Mark.

 Option #1: Find a local crook (preferrably a car-jack specialist) and borrow his "slim-jim!!!!! (Hmmm...that could have future reper-ma-cussions): or

Option #2: SLAP thine-self upside thine head!!!!! :wall: ; or

Option #3: Buy another Spydah!; or

Option #4: Buy another car.

The alternative options are "infinite" my friend! :D
My guy at the dealership here (Shawn) said that those keys are specialized and replacement might pose (I like the "pose" werd) a problem for ya ownself!

But it's do-able! The problem is "when"!

Locks are only for honest people. A thief would just yank it open.

Last summer I made my own trunk/seat open only key. I went to the hardware store and looked for a key blank. I found one very similar. It was a Volvo blank. With some minor modifications to the grooves and the top with the dremel tool, it now opens the trunk and the seat. I just need to find a suitable hiding place on the Spyder.

Cheap and easy fix without having to worry about a spare key is an emergency release cable. Take about 28" of picture hanger wire and loop it around the trunk release latch. Run the wire past the fuse box and down to the oil tank. Attach a small pull ring and secure it near the oil tank. If key gets locked in trunk, pop off quick twist bolts on oil tank panel and pull wire. Can't beat the price- free.

My friend that owns a locksmith shop used a triumph key blank for mine. Works like a dream!!!!

I leave it in the ignition in my garage so I can open the trunk without goin back in the house all the time.

Thanks for various solutions!

Picture frame wire nice idea for a release cable.

Like idea of "garage key" to just open trunk or seat.

Hi I have a 2009 Can am SE5 Locked the keys in trunk. I don't understand which cable to tug on as there are a few under there. Is it the one that comes out directly from the ignition. If that doesn't work, any other recourse?

Welcome Shellie!, sorry I don't have an answer for you, since the original thread
is over a year and a half ago, I would either PM the original poster or start a new
thread as this might get overlooked by the person who has an answer for you. Good luck.

Don't exactly remember how I did it because it was so long ago. But what I did was go to my local dealer and asked them to pop a trunk for me and I looked to see how it worked and was able to pop it open with a coat hanger is less than 30 seconds.
Hope that helps
Mark
