Had my Spyder on the BUD machine for 5 hours, could not even solve an easy solution of replacing new relay

It's a tool, just like the wrench in the drawer.
You still have to have a good mechanic on the other end to get a good result.

Doubtful a dealer will risk his dealership, the software is registered to each dealer. Even if you get the software, you will need the corresponding hardware to connect to a laptop.

Bulletin tells the dealer to download the latest version from the Boss web site, I doubt it's registered.
The hardware has a part # and can be ordered.

Any thing can be purchased, just at what is the cost. The cable has a part number and can be ordered.

Not only is there hardware and updates, but dealers also need to have the "credentials" or authorization to use it. I believe Thurkun is correct that a dealer could get into trouble for "letting it free". If I could, Ken would be the first person I would send a copy.

IIRC, There is a part number for the hardware and software in the Parts Catalog. It is pricey

The problem with the buds program is that when they run it.....it calls home to brp. Also you have a special key that goes on the back of the computer so that you can't run it on multiple computers.
Spyder Upgrades:Corbin Seat with Backrest,Hindle exhaust,Evoluzoines power bus & performance filter & brake light conversion kit,BRP Riser + No Magic Neon 3" Risers,CHAD windshield,Kuryakyn footpegs,highway peg brackets,Spyder web radiator side cover,trim kit, 12v outlet,Corbin Saddlebags, Trunk Liner,BRP Backrest/Rack,Scalia Q2 headset,Scorpion Alarm..

I would like to connect to BUDS Light - Some diagnostics from home communications over internet. Would point to when you need to take Spyder in. All software run on their machines and for my self I would be willing to pay for this service. Another revenue stream!!!

My dealer does not have a good techie person so I have helped some with the B.U.D.S software for the Spydie. The following info is from my experience installing and using the software.
  • There are part numbers for the MPI-2, the Diagnostic Cable, and the DESS Post Interface Cable (DESS is not required for the Spyder). These part numbers are not listed in the Spyder parts catalog, and can only be ordered by an authorized Can-Am Spyder dealer.
  • There is no part number or price listed for the B.U.D.S software, it is free of charge to the Spyder dealers, and down loadable from BOSSWEB.
  • The B.U.D.S software does require an "access code" which the dealer does need to call and request from BRP.
  • The dealer is able to install B.U.D.S software on multiple machines, each will require a separate "access code" from BRP.
  • The B.U.D.S software does not communicate with BRP, information for each Spyder is stored in files within the software.
  • Any updates that BRP introduces for the Spyder are encoded into a new version of the B.U.D.S software and made available to the Spyder dealers. Any "updates" can not be installed simply by using the older version of a B.U.D.S software.

In my experience ....... even if an owner managed to acquire the software/hardware, without having access to BOSSWEB it will eventually be outdated and rather useless. As for BRP implementing some type of B.U.D.S system for the owner, I don't see that becoming a reality. While the B.U.D.S software is nothing but a "diagnostic" type of program, and an owner could not do any "harm" to the Spyder by using it, I doubt BRP wants an owner playing around with the Spyder system. :)
