When I wear this certain pair of boots that I like to wear when ryding, quite often I have problems up shifting. By that I mean I can't get out of the gear I'm in unless I depress the clutch again and pull up harder with my toe. It usually happens if I'm going thru the gears rapidly. When I wear the other boots that I wear alot, it never seems to happen. I know it sounds kind of stupid. I wonder if any one else has expierienced anything like this. The only expanation I can come up with is the toes on the boots I have the problem with are fuller and taller......not sure why this would matter. It might have something to do with syncronization of throttle, clutch and gear shifter. Just thought I'd see what others have to say about it.

I had the same trouble a couple of times. I think I wasnt pulling the clutch in enough or pushing up hard enough, I was trying to go through the gears fast and its like it poped into neutral. I think I just need to get used to the bike! It only has 114 miles on it.

Sit on a chair with your boots on and your left foot flat on the floor. Without lifting your heel, pull your toe up as far as you can using only the muscles used for shifting, and note the distance from the floor.

Now do the same thing with the other pair of boots. Note the difference in the amount you are able to lift your toe and compare how tightly the different boots fit around your ankle.

I'm betting your ankle movement is somewhat restricted with the pair of boots interfering with your shifting. If I'm right, you'll be able to lift your boot toe higher with one pair of boots compared to the other.

Remember, you only move your toe about one-half to three-quarters of an inch to complete a shift. If there's a quarter-inch difference in the distance you can lift your toe from the floor it might have a significant impact on your ability to shift.

Regards,

Mark

I see what you are talking about and could very well be right. If I keep it in my mind that I have problems with the one pair of boots I can ususlly eliminate the problem.

Thanks for your input, Mark. :)
