This mod has certainly been done before. I thank those that preceeded me for their posts. Mine is a little different. The passenger pegs are attached to a cast part. This casting has been broken by members of the forum. I felt that the extra leverage afforded by the extension might cause the cast attachment point to break. I ran my extensions both forward for the peg and back for a second attchment/reinforcement point. As with most of my custom mods I have to once again give credit to my good friend Phil :beerchug1: who is really the brains and brawn behind them. Phil is the man for Applied Ingenuity Inc. I like the additional support, that's a good idea. Some of the exhaust pipes use that support location for mounting the pipe and is something to consider. I don't recall anyone on this forum having broken the rear foot rest casting because of a foot peg modification. Could you post the thread? There are a few similar designs out there including mine that might raise some concerns.

I don't believe anyone has broken the casting at the passenger peg attachment point. I believe the person who broke the casting had strapped soft saddlebags to the rear of the casting and broke it. I am not sure however and can't locate the thread. I was just concerned as both my wife and I occasionally stand on our pegs on long rides to stretch our legs. Just being paranoid with the extra rear bracing. Had to machine several custom parts to make the rear portion bolt on to the bike and look like it was made to do that.

Another major surgery June 09 made the Spyder the best decision for me as I am stil in the wind. Still have my Buell Millenium but I have not been on it for two years now, it wil have to go too. Fixing to attach my Bushtec Trailer on the Spyder in the near future, Got the Trailer just need the hitch. Minimal accesories but need a better seat for my spouse and better rear pegs for her comfort that wont cost me some of the prices I see asked.

Great idea....necessity is the mother of "improvement". My passenger weighs 100 pounds soaking wet, so she can stand on the peg all day long. I do like your added stability though. I also can't weld aluminum, so that beats my drill and tap.

Good job!!

these are great mods. I was thinking about making extensions for the driver foot pegs to make them longer so my wife could put her feet forward outside of mine. Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

You are not the first person to suggest this mod. So far I have not seen any posts or pics of a follow through on the idea. I'm sure it could be done by anyone with a well equiped shop and the skills. It might look a little odd, but who cares if it makes your wife comfortable. "When Mama's Happy, Everybody's Happy". If you do make some please post with pics. If you want a contact for someone who could do it for you and have it look professional, email or call Phil at Applied Ingenuity Inc. 850-9449158 or philaii@bellsouth.net Good Luck on making or finding what you want for your Spyder.

You can get them from Phil three different ways. 1) Ebay Motors - Buy it Now- Currently item#250433142016 but of course the item number changes with each sale 2)Craig's List - Florida - Pensacola/Panhandle 3) Email philaii@bellsouth.net Good Luck only a half a dozen or so left last time I talked to him. I'm not sure if he will produce any more?

The pegs look great. I'm tired of riding with my heels on the stock pegs. Anything to staighten or extend the legs and relieve the knee pain would be welcome.

I added the Can Am passenger foot peg extensions and they work great. However, they do move the foot forward so the passengers leg isn't as bent as on the stock pegs. The problem I have is they not only move the peg forward but it also lowers the peg a couple of inches. This is just enough for the passenger hand grips to dig into the wife's leg. Has anyone made or know where I can get an add on that will leave the peg forward but raises the peg a couple of inches? Some sort of offset.
