I am also interested in the 1" BRP riser block. Has anyone installed this part themselves? I have not done any work on the

Spyder or any of the cycles I have owned but would like to do this myself.

Tharkun

Did you check on the 2" riser from Helibars at the show?

I asked about Helibars producing and offering a 2" riser similar to the 1" available from BRP, it would be dependent upon the cost to produce it and how large of a market there would be for it.

Gee Dennis - I hope you mean 6pm - 18 hours at Orlando Airport - Ugh.

I had heli bars added to my spydie this weekend and drove from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm - and was comfy the whole time and i have tendency to lower back pain at times

I took a shuttle bus from Ormond Beach to the airport, because of flight times, I had to take a 9:30 pm bus, arrived at the airport at 11pm for my 6:30 am flight. So only spent a bit over 7 hours at wonderful Orlando airport.

Good to hear the Helibars are working for you, Harry only had 10 sets with him and as you know, they sold out fast. They should be available for order and within a few weeks there should be no issues about supply.

[I used the 4 inch risers from NoMagic Neon, they raise the handlebars and pull back so that you can sit up straight and this eliminates back pressure and pressure on your hands because you are not leaning forward on your hands.

I installed the Kewlmetal bars and I love them. I'm adding some speakers and a GPS this week.

I am a new spyder owner and very interested in the Kewlmetal bars. I am 5'2" and was wondering which bars did you install; 5 or 7 in? I know they have to make the "cruising" a lot more comfortable. How difficult were they to install?

Hi SisterCalhoun, I'm a new spyder owner, too! And new here to this board. I bought a 2008 SM5 with only 553 miles on it. The first owner put Kewlmetal bars w/riser on it (I'm not sure what inch), and I can tell you, turning is very different. You cannot lean forward and into the turn enough to counteract the feeling of being thrown off during the turn. I rode a friend's Spyder and test rode a dealership Spyder, both with stock bars, and it didn't feel that way. I'm here on this board looking into what I should get to return the bars back to their intended driving position. I like the Kewlmetal aluminum console on my bike better than the stock plastic, so I'm hoping there's a handlebar to go with them that will bring me back into a more forward position. Until then, I'm having to slow down in turns more than I should, because of being thrown off. Previously, I had a Heritage Softail, so I do know how comfortable a cruising position feels, but it seems to me that just isn't going to work in a machine that doesn't lean thru curves. Just thought I'd mention that... you may want to find someone who has the bars you're interested in installed and ask to ride it before you do it. But you are shorter, so it might work out fine for you.
Happy riding!
Karen
