I'm keeping stock, I'm not into noise especially with all the tunnels here in Virginia Beach. :wheelerdude:

Hello dprange,
How do you like your hindle exhaust? Did you do it yourself or have it done? I live in St. Louis Mo. I have an 08 spyder and wondered if I may be able to listen to your spyder with that exhaust sometime? Sounds like a nice little road trip this spring or summer. TTYL. Jerry

I had it installed at Ted's Motorcycle World in Alton, IL, where I bought my Spyder.

I absolutely love it... It's the one "must-have" mod I would recommend to any Spyder owner.

Is anyone making true duals for the Spyder yet? I have not seen any, but maybe someone in the group has?

Nope. Put my deposit down, but I didn't want a first year Spydie. I never buy a first year vehicle; I prefer to wait until the teething problems have been sorted out (you know, squealing brakes, a few computer glitches, etc., etc.).

Check the narrative under my avatar.

Bruce!!!! DUDE!!! Here I was thinking after reading all of your excellent stuff up off in heah, that you not only "owned" one, you could practically BUILD one! I bought mine around December 11 and managed just this past week to put a few more miles on it. Still haven't gotten up to 625 miles for servicing. But I've found no bugs yet! I'm not sayin I'm lookin, but I'm kinda glad I haven't found any yet. And I'm glad I didn't get the SE5. The shifter is far more fun! I use the rpms of the engine more than I use brakes and then use the brakes sparingly. No squeaks yet. I don't plan on adding too many electrical gadgets. I want to be as "pure" as possible. But I will get the cruise control, as soon as I can find a reputable dealer. Do you have any recommendations?

I do own one Herm (picked up on October 11/08). My dealer made me an offer I just couldn't refuse, so I didn't have to wait for an '09. I decided to take a chance with a late-model '08 instead. That is an old post you are looking at. So far, I have not regretted it.

As far as cruise control is concerned, I don't have a true "cruise" but a throttle lock, which is what I have used for years with different motorcycles I have owned. I purchased the one that is sold by Industries 7, and I really like having it to give my throttle hand an occasional rest. You can find it here:

Any time Herm. Thanks for the Kudos on Red October. I'm lovin' that machine, although it looks like it will sit idle in my garage for a while longer. Here is the view from my office window, taken about five minutes ago:

I'll be doing a 10K training run through that muck later today - preparing for my first Marathon in May.

MBRP. End of discussion!... Best out there (sound/performance IMHO). But, to each his or hers own. Director, how does the throttle lock from I7 work for you and would you suggest it and how easy/hard is it to install? I need a lock soon.

The throttle lock works very well, but only for short periods. It is really designed to give your throttle hand a brief rest. It will not hold a constant speed in hilly conditions, but for what it is designed to do, it is a cheap and effective tool. I can't speak to the ease or difficulty of installation, as I had my dealer install it before I took delivery of my Spyder, but it does not look too hard to do. I had a similar lock on my last bike, a Kawasaki Concours (also dealer installed) and I really don't want to be without one.

Cheers,

Bruce

I installed my own and the installation was not bad. It would have been easier if Ind.7 had included the instructions. I let them know I did not get any and they assured me mine was an isolated incident. Posts to the contrary seemed to indicate that no instructions might be fairly common. The throttle lock is fine and functions as Bruce described. I personally find it difficult to engage this particular throttle lock using my right thumb. This is how I engaged other similar products I have had on other machines. I can do it if I am wearing my summer weight gloves. If I have on my thicker spring/fall or winter gloves I can not get my thumb under the tab to engage the mechanism. I have to reach across with my left hand to engage the throttle lock. It doesn't really make sense to me as the left hand has the same thick gloves on too. :TgC_emoticon142: I can easily disengage the throttle lock with my right thumb with any gloves that I am wearing and that is the important part.

I Had dan put on a leo vince after I talked to lou from brp. Its what he has and recomended it. Its louder then stock, but not to loud, and has really nice sound. It has a quit core tip that can easlly be removed by taking out one screw, and then it is a beast. Its like two pipes in one. The perfomance increase is noticeaby and the milage might be a mile less a gallon. I love it.
