Well the Corbin products are not in the lower price range, if price is the major factor when making a purchase, then the selection is rather limited to "add on" items. I feel the extra cost of the Corbin Spyder line of products can be justified in that they are custom designed to enhance the appearance of a Spyder. As I have stated in previous posts, while talking to people about Spydie and I inform them that the Corbin products are "add on" items, the general response is they appear to have been produced with the Spyder. :)

Another feature I like about the Corbin products is that other than a small logo on the seat, the items do not have a "name" on the exterior, making them seem as stock items on Spydie.

The Smuggler is now available for ordering.

Thanks for the great review. I agree with the previous comment that the Smuggler's Trunk looks more like a larger cowl - but is also functional.

Do you have a picture of the Smuggler from the side with the lid open? I was wondering about the angle and position of the lid while it's up. You see, it tends to rain now and then here in Seattle (!) and the position might be such that it would 'dump' any water on top of the lid straight into the liner.

If not, then I'm adding it to my 'GOTTA HAVE' list. :)

Only pics I have are the ones I posted and Spydie is 90 miles from here at the present. I have not seen any of the production units as of yet, should see one next week.
There were a few tweaks done to the production units than the one I have and the Corbin Spyder had, one was the cover was adjusted to be more of a 90 degree angle when opened.
I'll see about getting some pics next week.

Remember that one needs to have the Corbin modular seat system to be able to use the Smuggler.

Oh yeah...The Corbin seat is the line above the Smugglers Trunk on the 'GOTTA HAVE' list... :)

Its a little bit of an "ouch" but it is well made, and they didn't scrimp or get thin fiberglass on any of it. Smugglers are quite solid and you probably won't take it off once you start using it! Mine has been on my CBR for two years now and I love it

Great job, Tharkun!
Hangin' off the inside.

Yep...Got mine and I think that it stands well on its own (without the hard saddlebags). Looks like a larger cowl that you can use for storage. I can fit my cable lock, all my gloves, my rain gear, and a couple of hats where it is much easier to get at than in the front trunk.

Quality of the smuggler's trunk is first-rate. It truly looks and fits like it's part of the Spyder. Color match is exact. Hinge mechanism is solid. Interior lining is clean with no lumps or deformities.

I'd rather spend $800 on something like this than $300 for something that doesn't fit or look right.

I am wondering if anyone has purchased a spyder from Polaris Victory of Cumming located in Georgia? If so are you happy with their service? I am considering purchasing from this location and just concerned with if something were to go wrong will they take care of the problem. Any info would help alot. Thank you.

Marc,
I just ordered a red one. I am looking forward to it and to see how the Corben Seat feels.
They were a little foggy on the production time I'd guess it will take em 4 + weeks but should be worth the wait.

Anyway tried modify the bump pad maybe add a back rest so it will function better, gotten so used to my back rest on my burgman this is one mod I sure would like to have on the spyder with the smuggler case.

I too had a Burgman 650 before I got the Spyder and yes that seat was a comfy one with an aduustable tail bone support.
I would think that the pad on the smuggler could be modified or replaced to achieve the same effect on the tail bone.
I will just have to see what the position of the thing is when It comes. With the Corben seat, which is touted to be quite comfortable once broken in, it may not be needed.

Actually unless you have the seat it is $1094.48 you must have the front seat.
