Ok folks, we have the final details regarding the Gatlinburg event so we thought we would start this new thread to bring everything together.

First off, some good news. BRP will be participating (Spyder demos and Spyder Specialists attending  ) and they also will be donating Parts and Accessory Gift Certificates to be given away as awards. Evoluzione will also be donating a prize and we are working with other SpyderTalk sponsors as well.

Where:
Gatlinburg is the main base for the rides. Mountain Motorsports, a BRP dealer, in Kodak, TN will be the location for the BBQ and Spyder owners gathering on Friday afternoon. BRP will likely also set up shop at Mountain Motorsports. The dealership will also offer oil changes and have Spyder parts (tires, belts, etc) on hand.

Schedule:
This is a grassroots event and folks can come and go as they like. We have some organized rides and events that you can pick and choose what to participate in.

Tuesday, Sept 23rd – Bill is planning a Meet and Greet at Crawdaddy’s Restaurant (762 Parkway, Gatlinburg, TN 37738) starting at 2pm.

Wednesday, Sept 24th - Steve Pickles from Ride The Smokies.com will lead a ride starting at 10:30am from the Sugarlands Visitors Center (The Sugarlands Visitors Center is located along Newfound Gap Road (U.S. 441) just two miles South of Gatlinburg). The ride will travel through the scenic byways of the Great Smoky Mountains to The Tail of the Dragon at Deal’s Gap. The ride will then head over the hills and through the woods to Cherokee were we will stop and shop. The ride will then roll back over the Smokies, arriving back at the Sugarlands Visitors Center around 6:00pm.

Thursday, Sept 25th - Steve will hit the road again at 10:30am from the Sugarlands Visitors Center. He will lead a ride through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park to the Blueridge Parkway into Maggie Valley, NC. The group will stop at the Wheels Through Time museum (discounted $10.00 entrance fee for Spyder riders). Steve will be leaving the museum at 2:00pm for the twisties of highway 209 and the Pisgah National Forest to Hot Springs, NC and then take back roads arriving back in Gatlinburg around 6:00pm.

Friday, Sept 26th - Steve will start the “Hillbilly Ride” from the Winery Square parking lot on hwy 321 at Noon and will take the group on some of the most outlandish country roads in the area…you might even hear banjo music! This ride will end around 2pm at Mountain Motorsports in Kodak, TN, for the BBQ.

Famous Daves will be catering a BBQ around 3pm at the dealership parking lot. During the BBQ, we will hand out awards and there also will be tables/tents/tractor trailers possibly :) where Spyder vendors will be offering products. We have a BBQ sign up thread - Click here. Please sign up so we have an estimated count.

Shirts
We have designed a logo and you can order a "Spyders in the Smokies" shirt from TG Promotions before the event. Click here for information on shirt orders.

Sign-up
If you are planning to attend, please make an effort to sign in the Owners' Event section on SpyderRyder.com

Lodging
Here is a topic where you can add where you are staying to let fellow members know.

Let's keep this thread on top until the event to keep everyone up to date. Please ask any questions in here and also please chime in if you are planning to attend any or all of the days.

I will need an oil change prior to leaving TN - do you have an address and phone number?

Mountain MotorSports

Robin is the GM at Mountain MotorSports. They are the closest BRP dealer to Gatlinburg. They are not a Spyder dealer yet, but their other dealership in Georgia (I think) is. So they will be able to do basic service and have basic parts available from their other dealership.

Posted 06 August 2008 - 10:32 AM

Just got back from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinbury last week....what a great place. Unfortunately couldn't take the spyder, due to wife and kids....however if her SE5 is in by then we would love to come down. Just a suggestion, we stayed at the KOA in Pigeon Forge--That campground is FANTASTIC!!!

Tons of things to do in the area, we did Dollywood and Splash Country. Dollywood was GREAT! as well as splash country. We did drive up to Laurel Falls and hike to the 80 foot waterfall, worth the time and effort. We did the Ripley's Aquarium--very fun. We spent one day whitewater rafting the lower Pigeon river great for the kids. Hit Bass Pro Shop in Sieverville (north of Pigeon Forge). Also, did the Dixie Stampede--we would definitely do it again with the kids.

Didn't do Deals Gap, but sat around the fire one night with 3 guys from Texas that trailered there bikes, THEY were going nuts about it.

If you stay in Gatlinbury YOU MUST EAT AT "BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT"...it's in Elks Plaza at 8-9th light. Some of the best food I've ever eaten. Not much for ambiance, but let me say this, there is probably 1000 places to eat in Sieverville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, money isn't an issue for us when it comes to food...WE ATE THERE TWICE!!! The food is that good... suggestions Liguini with Clams...oh man...

I would really like to make this ride, and if at all possible we will.

Hey Marc,
I have a question about the Friday Ryde. Is Winery Square in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge (It's been several years since I was in the area)? Once we are in Gatlinburg, is there a way to "contact" the Spyder Ryders for updated info? Our party will be arriving Thursday afternoon (that 4-letter word called work is the hold up) and we'd like to make sure we're in contact with the Spyders!

Thanks!
Dee

Winery Square in in Gatlinburg on 321, opposite side of town from Pigeon Forge.

Billy will be staying at the Olde English Tudor Inn and plans to have a little "get-together" at his cottage each evening I believe. Also, the BRP dealer in Kodak, TN...Mountain Motorsports will have all the latest information along with being the base for BRP and other vendors.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Marc,
Another question here. I read last night in one of my motorcycle magazines that Wheels through Time was closing on August 31. Are we still going to be able to go there?
