Been out testing my calsci windscreen today.Very pleased with results and like the design and craftman ship as well ,little wind in my face, just enough on a hot day to stay cool. Was also able to unzip my riding jacket 2/3 's and not turn into a giant black ballon, and had enough air coming in through the vent to hit my torso.Im not related to these people or im i receiving any compensation for this post.No need to post pic here, good pic on there site and other wind screens as well.A note i got the x-Large im 6ft with 32 inch inseam.Happy Motoring :beerchug1:

Glad to here yours is working out well Oregon1. I'm a happy customer too.
I got my CalSci windshield in Medium size on Friday and installed it for the ride home from work. I could tell right away that it was a quieter ride due to the reduced wind noise. I've been riding with a half helmet because it is so blasted hot in Phoenix right now and the wind noise at 45 mph is loud. I think I could use my iPod now with the half helmet and the CalSci windshield. I took the Spyder on the freeway today and I am really happy with the windshield. I could sit comfortably at 85 mph without being beat up by the wind and I didn't need ear plugs. This is a great product and it looks like it belongs on the Spyder unlike some of the other I have seen. I'll be sending my other windshield in for the rebate offer.

Ordered mine this morning... hope it works well. Don't think I'll be sending in my spyder windshield for the rebate...spent $90 getting it painted.Only want this for touring.

This sounds like my next purchase, wish I hadn't bought the second windshield from BRP. Better but not what I wanted. Well I guess no ones perfect. That rebate on someone elses windshield is a factor if and when I buy. My old bike did have a full windshield and I guess I must have gotten used to it. Anyone know if the outdoor cover still fits well with one of these windshields ?

Let me tell you my recent experience with the CALSCI windscreen...and it's all GOOD. I read about it here in the Forum, checked out the website, and gave them a call...credit card in hand. I have a degree in Aero and liked what I read about buffet, vortices and such. A fellow named Mark answered the phone...very courteous and knowledgeable. We discussed the size of the screen for some time since I am 6-7, 66 years old, and live in warm Texas. He suggested the XL and gave me logical reasons for that. They do not tint any of their windscreens, and they do not offer the $60 rebate on the BPR windscreens...only the competitor's, as was clearly pointed out in their on-line advertisement. I placed my order with him on the 11th, and it arrived on my doorstep on the 14th in north Texas...3 days DHL from Sacremento to Dallas...not too bad. It was packaged perfectly and included a soft cover and a cleaning kit. It took less than ten minutes to remove the old screen and install the new one. Everything fit! It is exactly as advertised. The wind comes off the screen in streamlines with little buffet [laminar flow, as opposed to turbulent flow, for us engineering geeks]. It is so quiet now, I can really hear new sounds from the motor and exhaust. It really made a difference. All of this about reverse and compound curves is ludicrous. The more you disturb the air, the more noise, the more buffet, and the more drag. We airplane designers have know that forever. There is a vent through the screen that allows just enough air to keep you a little cooler. All in all, this is a very good product. If you are in the market for a windscreen, at least give this one a look.

Similar height here. Are you looking OVER or THRU the screen? I prefer to have line of sight just clear the screen, with option to tuck in if weather dictates.

it sounds like someone has done their homework and has developed a workable windshield. And I can get $60 for my useless $1500 Corbin windshield. I am in.

Ya know if you are really serious about selling the Corbin Spyder Fairing for such a small amount, I'll give you $200 cash for the fairing.

Personally, I love my new fairing/windshield by Corbin. Like many, I didn't care for the original or for the cheap replacement (from Florida?) The Corbin is well designed, super strong and it makes my Spyder look more ... spydery. Like my huge bags, also by Corbin, it adds to the bike rather than look like an add-on. It will give me a new dimension when I get it painted after this riding season. I'm only 5'4", low on my legs but with a long torso. Also, I ride more cruiser-style, not hunched back or crotch-rocket style, so I NEED wind protection. I look over the windshield but can retreat behind in case of inclement weather... (Like going through Salt Lake City in a violent rain on he day that they had to close Hwy 6 for a few hours!!) or windshear, like coming across a truck on a fast highway. Instead of the short tinted windshield above the gray fairing, I went for the higher clear one. If you didn't get the protection you wanted, perhaps you might want to switch to the taller clear one on top of the colored fairing. It would be a whole lot cheaper than scrapping the whole thing. The Corbin accessories are pricier, but quality can't come cheap. Plus, you are buying American.
Also from Corbin, I bought the bags. 35 gallons of additional storage space. There too, they add to the look of my Spyder rather than take away from it. (and those big bags make my tush look skinny. Vanitas, vanitas, vanitatum!) They open and close with one finger. One little problem was the length of the pop rivet holding the rubber cushion by the latch. I siliconed it temporarily. No good. Ron is going to fix it with a longer rivet(aluminum, 5/32"diam. and 1/2"length, available at any hardware store)
I couldn't resist the Corbin seat that splits the original in 2, one rider seat and one passenger seat. my rider seat is heated :riding: the passenger seat removes with a key, giving me access to the brake stuff without lengthy undoing. I think that is cool. It is good design. I lose a little play in lifting the rider seat to get gas, but I can live with that. A word of advice to California: Get rid of the new "safe"pumps, with an extra rubber sleeve. Who dreamt that idiocy!!!
By the way, I'm not paid by Corbin. I'm just a very satisfied customer.

Was surprised to find the wind still hit me full in the face. I'm 5'9" and got the large which is supposed to be for 5'11". Now I wish i had got the x-lge. Find also there is a "little" vibration at higher speeds that wasn't there before.

Hi, Oregon 1 Your windshield looks a lot like the one my BRP dealer recommended as a replacement for the original. Same width and height. It was a big improvement over the tiny original. There was a lot less wind and the ride was quieter. I felt I still needed more. Before you go too long, however, check if you have the rubber washers by the 4 screws. Mine was installed without, and sure enough, when I got to Sturgis, there were hairline cracks by the screws. Only 4 screws to hold such a large piece of windshield is a lot of stress on these 4 points of attachment. This said, the thickness was equal to my Corbin windshield.

I assume the BRP outdoor cover will no longer fit the Spyder with a Calsci windshield (size L) ? Also they say you have to adjust your cluth lever or it hits. Do you have to move it much ? Thanks.

People were fitting the cover on with the F1... so I don't think the CalSci should be a problem.

My 2 cents now that I've had the CalSci for a while. Their sizing suggestions were good. Fit very good, wind and sound reduction, very good (obviously more protection from the winged ones). I wish it were tinted, mainly for looks since I look over it. There are some rough spots in the cutting, especially the vent. They have said that's the way it is. This post was edited to relect my most recent communications. Issue resolved, Mark took care of me.

I've been very pleased with the CalSci. Big improvement in wind buffeting and worked perfectly while I used a full face helmet. I think the vent cut into the windscreen makes all the difference. No tweaking was needed to get it to fit the Spyder.

I did determine that the Large was too small for me once I went to a 3/4 face helmet as the windstream went directly to the eyes.

For anyone using the sizing charts on their website, I found them very useful. If you find that your height and inseam falls between 2 different sizes on their chart, the type of helmet you intend to use should be taken into consideration. If you're wearing a full face helmet, you're probably OK to go to the shorter size. However, if you plan to use an open face helmet you should probably consider moving up to the larger size to avoid buying two windshields.

For reference, I'm 6' tall with a 30 inch inseam...in between a Large and XL. I went for the Large. Live and Learn. I just wanted to pass that along to help others still making this decision.

On a side note, I just ordered an XL from CalSci and when I opened the box I discoverd that I was shipped a Large. I have to hand it to Mark at CalSci. He's actually going to meet me today 5 miles from my house (same day that I called him) to swap out the correct size. Now that's customer service!!
