I have noticed the brake squeal occasionally. It stops right after I wash the Spyder!

24,982 miles as of yesterday (20 Aug 2010). I will apply for my 25K pin this evening. 2010 Spyder RT-S PE #0779.

YES! My brakes squeal quite often. I first noticed the squeal a few weeks after purchasing. In the past month, I've noticed the brakes consistently making a loud noise when moving in reverse. I had the dealer look at it this past Saturday and I was told that the noise is "normal"...seriously!

The work order copy indicates that I do not ride enough and that rust is forming on the rotor...hmmm, I have had the Spyder for about five months and now have about 7500 miles and counting, I'm no math genius but that's roughly over a thousand miles per month and am hard-pressed to find rust! As much as I like my Spyder, my desire to keep it is certainly waning over this obvious problem with the brakes....sure hope it doesn't come to that.

Mine have squeeled since day1.. the dealership removed the pads, bevelled them,sanded/cleaned,applied "no squeel" to back of pads. They still squeel at "every" stop.. tried stomping...tried hard braking instead of light (scary...worried about what would happen if they didn't work one time when I wait so long to apply them). Am really fed up with waiting so long to get this darn defect fixed. I don't aggree with someone having to solve the problem after paying over 22,000 for the bike. What the h___ is with BRP...they know the problem... Relace the shoes with a softer pad. Whish I had purchased it on monthly payments, I would return it and tell them to shove it.

I'm with horse,Honda of Tulsa said they couldnot do any thing about the brakes.

Mine were squeaking so bad until I had the new pads put in. I've never heard a noise since.

Somewhere I saw a post wherein a person had made a few no.2 lead pencil marks on their rotors to stop the squeal. If any of you has dealt with Carlos from BRP you may know that Bombardier no longer owns the recreational products division. I was told this tidbit but I didn't think to ask who does own it. I like my RT but I don't trust it to go cross country. It's sad. 21500 for a product I can't trust to get me home on a regular basis.

Took mine to dealer and they are putting on Gen 3 pads for free. I do not have it back yet but had no problems getting dealer to put on new pads.

Hi all,

Mine squeak but generally when they are cold.
I also can make it go away temporarily by cleaning the tryke.

I might be a build up of brake dust though I do not think I am hard on the brakes.

Nov.2011

Spyder squeal returned. This time, louder than before. Dealer said it is a known problem. No new parts available to eliminate it. I read the posts on the subject. I will give De-squeak a try. Auto Zone is right around the corner.
