Please do not vote if your first service has not been completed yet (600mi +), or if you have not given your dealer a chance to repair or diagnose to the issue.

Please add another choice to the third question:

Not applicable; did not ask BRP or dealer for help.

It's a simple question... either they have squeaked or they have not. You should answer YES.

Mine only did it here and there at first.... now it won't go away.

My current car I drive the answer would be... NO as they have never squeaked.

A previous car... yes... the Spyder... yes.

Mine have squeeled since day1.. the dealership removed the pads, bevelled them,sanded/cleaned,applied "no squeel" to back of pads. They still squeel at "every" stop.. tried stomping...tried hard braking instead of light (scary...worried about what would happen if they didn't work one time when I wait so long to apply them). Am really fed up with waiting so long to get this darn defect fixed. I don't aggree with someone having to solve the problem after paying over 22,000 for the bike. What the h___ is with BRP...they know the problem... Relace the shoes with a softer pad. Whish I had purchased it on monthly payments, I would return it and tell them to shove it.

A fix will come! You will be happy you didn't buy it on monthly payments!

Besides the "squeal of burning cats" shouldn't kill ALL the fun with this machine! If you think about it :riding:

I bedded in the brakes on the wifey's Spyder at the same time I broke in the engine. We've never experienced any persistant squealing, except under hard acceleration when she sometimes yowls like a lost and forlorn Daschund -- the Spyder, not the wifey.

2000+ miles so far...

Mark

I played around with the belt alignment and the squeel went away and hasn't returned with 4500 miles now.

Here is the official response I got from BRP.....

**********************************************************
Dear Mr. Johnson,

Thank you for becoming a member of the Can-Am Spyder community.

We are presently testing alternative brake pads and components and are working closely with the supplier to find a solution. We will communicate updates on this issue as soon as possible. It appears that you have already communicated the brake noise to your dealer who should be in contact once new brake pads are available.

Best Regards,
Spyder Team
*********************************************************

Hopefully I'll get that call from the dealership soon.

LOL!

You'll find out from someone out here WAY before your dealer even has a clue about any real fix for the brake pads.....

That's because we are the ones who ride them ......they could care less, they already sold you one! They are in the sales business. It makes sense that the riders will fix things before they get around to it, if it is not a safety issue it will probably take 25 percent of us to complain before they even look into it. Why would they unless sales are hurting and since they are having a hard time keeping up with filling orders as it is......well the fact that they don't know where they can get red paint from tells us something, I mean there are only about 40 or so auto manufacturers using a red paint that works, yet none is available for the Spyder for some strange reason. The red paint issue is just one example of a problem that a local painter can solve in under an hour that is taking BRP MONTHS to work out. :TgC_emoticon142:

Can you share where you are getting your info about the "paint" issue?

Thanks,

I dont know anything personally about a paint issue. I do want to ask if we know its a "paint" issue. Are we sure that they arent trying to mold the pannels from red material, like maybe honda does?

I'm sure they are painted vs a molded in Red color. The Silver/Black and Yellow/Black are painted so I see no reason for the Red/Black ones be a molded in red and not painted. Here is info I have found on the red:
BRP Color Name - Roadster Red
BRP Color Code - B-293
BASF Paint Code - 804705
So still waiting on scottmanesis to provide the info, links, etc... on red being the reason BRP pushed back the release of the reds a month. If someone can drop a turd like that then not provide back up to it then the reason BRP delayed the reds a month are to fix brake issues, add a hand brake, add a six gear (and keep the R) bigger radiator, bigger fans, better stock pipe, add the best windshield ever, add a VSS control knob, better shocks, choice of car tires and whatever the red buyers want changed or fixed to their liking! All this info which I can not provide information on or links to! Sorry about stealing this theard about the brake issue.

Having drilled through the rear fender panel and the upper panel behind the seat for different mods I would have to agree with Danimal. At least on a silver Spyder the color seems to be consistant all the way through and not just a surface thing. Of course someone with a yellow Spyder will have to weigh in on this too. It appears we however have turned this thread into something it didn't start out about, Sorry. :D
