The guy on Youtube could have done better. I would have taken all the fenders off and the trunk. It would have saved about 50 pounds of weight which is significant.

Thats true, but there needs to be some weight in the back for the tire to get some traction. Im thinking about rigging up a rack to put weight on the back to not spin .

Prolly quicker in the 1/8, seems like they might run out of gear? my busa runs 9.50 at 158, and I know these wont even come close to that

So far in the 1/8 my best is 8.64@82.56MPH. Against a busa, he ran a 7.19@104.17. Definately needs a slick.

I highly doubt that taking the rear fender off is going to affect the traction of the Spyder. How much does it weigh? like 4lbs? The trunk on the other hand completely taken off weights like 40 lbs....significant weight loss....slightly less aerodynamics. I remember when I took my trunk off to install the HEAVY DUTY SWAYBAR....the Spyder had a really cool NAKED look....you could see the shocks and all the suspension components. I drove it around the block without the trunk and it felt lighter and more nimble. I wish someone would come out with a NAKED BIKE KIT for the Spyder.....something that removes the trunk and allows the V-Twin to show up a little.......Just thinking out loud! LOL

Simply removing the trunk will not allow any more of the V twin to be exposed than with the trunk installed, there is little view of the V twim from the front of a Spyder because of the design.

If you take the trunk off to try and do a faster 1/4 mile you will be highly dissapointed. As soon as you remove the trunk, you turn the Spyder into a rolling brick.

I never said that removing the trunk would make the engine show more. I simply stated that the removal of the trunk would save an easy 40 lbs....which is significant in making the Spyder faster. I also mentioned that I would love to see a KIT to make the Spyder into a NAKED SPYDER.....no trunk is part of the design.
