Tweaking new bike

I took possession of my new Spyder late last week and have been tooling around the neighborhood every evening to break it in a little and get the feel of it. I am very happy with the machine but am pretty sure that the dealer haD no idea of how to prep it for delivery nor is experienced in supporting it yet. The bike is running OK but it definitely needs some adjusting as I am feeling/hearing some chattering, knocking and stiffness common with a new bike and I am not comfortable taking it back to the dealer...good guys just a bit clueless when it comes to the Spyder. Has anyone done any post-receiving adjustments to optimize how it runs or rides out of the box? Thanks for any and all feedback GO2LKG

I think you're going to need to elaborate a bit more on just what you are hearing and feeling. The 'chattering' or 'knocking' you are talking about could be the VSS kicking in.
I've not heard of people having such issues out of the box. Are you talking engine noises or frame noises???

I asked around a bit today and found ou that the chattering is probably the new front disk pads breaking in and the ABS system doing its job on a hard stop.
I guess my question had more to do with if people were finding the new front end suspensions to be 'stiff' and if anyone was doing anything about it other than taking it back to the dealer, as I am not sure that it would help quiet yet
Thanks for any and all input - GO2LKG

i have my front suspension set as stiff as it gets and it handles much better on the corners in my opinion. i am an agressive rider though too. lol the only sqeaks i hear are my stupid front brakes. i have just about 3000 miles on it now. love it!

how easy was the install smokester?
As I understand it.... they are easily adjustable.... how does that work?

Ken installed them, he is local.
Love them, you can adjust to your liking.
I ride the mountains here, only trust the best.
They are very responsive.
The difference in handling vs stock is huge.
Best mod for me.
I prefer performance over visuals

1st, GET OUT OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD. Unless you are riding around in the 4500-7000 RPM range in lower gears. 2nd Read the manual. Stay off the brakes for the first? Miles than go out and bed them. DO not Baby the Spyder it will whine and cry. It is not fragile. Do a search on here for break in.
