Update on the Frogg Toggs part of my review and Tourmaster suit Make sure you get the ones for motorcycles

As I was in need of good rain gear right now due to some local weather. I picked up a Tourmaster rain suit and I wore it home in the pouring rain. It kept me completely dry, zippers and all. Also, when I hung it up, it was dried out in a very short time, 30 minutes or less I would say. It also has very reflective piping and the pants are a bit easier to put on than the Frogg Toggs. The suit was $69.00 for top and bottoms, not a bad price for a local shop. I believe this suit will keep me drier in the heavy rains than the Frogg Toggs.

I got the Tourmaster Defender Rainsuit. I got the Red and Black with white and grey accent piping. Here is a picture, you can't see the grey accent piping in the picture, but it runs along both edges of all the white strips. It is a very sharp accent to my Silver and Black Spyder. Also, I will post a photo of the pants. I didn't think I would like the suspenders at first, but I really do, it keeps the pants up under my jacket and I can put the top of the pants over the bottom part of my Fieldsheer and the suspenders stretch all the way over everything. Then I just put the raincoat on last. It is very nice. Oh yeah, it has an aqua barrier hood too that zips into the collar.

I bought mine locally because I needed them right now. Kneedraggers has about the best on line price $53.99, I don't know what their shipping costs is though. http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Tour_M...it--618385.html
I paid $66.95 out the door at my local cycle shop.

I also went to Gander and looked at the Froggs..... but ended up buying some Columbia gear for the same price as the Froggs. As I left the store it was starting to rain... then came down pretty hard.... stayed dry.
That is a good price for a set of rain gear....

Too funny, first the bags, now the rain suit! I just bought the same suit but in yellow and black. Got lucky and found it on eBay for $35 plus shipping. Newenough.com has them, too.

Rocky's Great Outdoors in Burton, MI (just outside Flint) (810) 742-5420 Here is their website http://www.rockysonline.com/ It isn't the best site but not bad. They have a really big store here though, I think their store is better than their website. Also, the price I got on my rainsuit was a mother's day price. I think it was retailed at $69.00 plus tax in the store. I think I got 10% off or something like that. Anyway, they are really nice to deal with and pretty reasonable overall. I do buy a lot of things on line but when the price is close, I try to support local economy.

They may have updated the Tourmaster a bit. My jacket is not rubberized and it breaths quite well. The pants on the other hand do still have a type of rubber lining and can get hot in very humid rainy weather. Also, in all fairness to the Frogg Toggs ( I thought I mentioned this) I did not buy the one specific for motorcycles. That set would put the cost comparable to the Tourmaster set I bought. I bought an inexpensive Frogg Togg at a local Gander Mountain and the zipper broke the third time I wore them. They worked great in light rain but in a down pour I got wet. They are lightweight and do breath though. You will not sweat in them.

Picked up the Frogg Toggs Road Toad on a recomendation. At first impressions I was very skeptical, but I gave them a try. My commute to work is 20 mi each direction, and before I left to go home it was getting very very dark out. So I broke out the suit for the first time.
When putting it on you think the suit is going to rip (because the material is so light), but it is much tougher then you would think. The legs are baggy enough to make getting your boots through fairly easy, but if you have big feet it may prove to be more difficult (leg zippers are not full length). Using the hoody under the helmet made a nice seal at the colar, but you may need to adjust strings a little so it dosen't cover your eyes. I didn't have gloves so my hands were going to get wet, and I couldn't report on any seal between the jacket and gloves. The seal on the boots was fine.
How wet did I get? When I headed into the storm I was thinking just how stupid I must be in the name of testing. The storm was, how shall I say, bad. It was raining so hard, water wasn't getting a chance to drain off the road, and thus creating ideal hydro plaining conditions. At 60-70mph I also got to test the VSS system, and it worked just great as I skittered across a number of road lakes. At one point I had to come to a crawl, because of a white out (in the rain). Except for that brief moment, my helmet and rainx kept my vison clear enough to see the road, traffic, and the bolts of lightning. That is when I realized that I didn't like driving a bike in driving rain with lightning bolts hitting around me, all I could think about was - lightning rod. My speed increased to ?? mph.
About five miles before getting home the rain stopped, and that is when I realized that I wasn't hot (the temp was about 85), and except for my hands I felt dry. When I got home, and took off the suit, I had one oval shaped wet spot in the center of my chest. All things considered, I was very impressed.
Later that evening my friend called and said "he smelt fear in the air, and at the moment he looked at the on-coming traffic to see me blowing down the road at an unreasonable speed. Was that your?" I replied "yes". He commented "you were running from that nasty storm, weren't you?". I replied "I ran through it, not from it." He laughed and said "there is no way he would be caught dead riding his Electra Glide throught that hell". I replied "neither would I".
UPDATE
I not happy with this thing anymore after getting soaked in it. What is the deal, is it good for a one time use. Last night I went home in another diving rain storm, but this time I got soaked. I attibute it to the zipper flap not working correctly and a lot of water got in at the top of the zipper. If the suit had twice as many snaps then I might have stayed dry.
GRRRR.

You've got me really leery now. I just bought the Signature Frogg Toggs. Haven't used them yet though. I made some velcro staps to put around my wrists and ankles just in case I get caught in a downpour. Hope that helps.
