My concern with not fitting in the spyder cut out or recess for the windshield. By forcing it to fit or shimming it will cause extra stress on the shield that would have been supported by fitting flush with the spyder body work. It should be made to fit proper without having to be modified by owner. If you use a Dremel or Die grinder I found that a carbide cutter works a lot better. As a standerd steel high speed cutter dulled fast.
As far as looking though the windshield, remember it is new now. But what about when it gets those fine scratches from cleaning and just normal use and bugs. Also if you have a face shield on your helmet you get a disorted view and extra glare.

I'm still waiting for my replacement as my F1 just wasn't tall enough to do the job at 24"..... so I'm getting an Evo cut down to 28" without vents. Depending on my ryding mood I can sit up straight and see over it... or crouch forward a bit and be under it...... I hope it works well!

Just a note with mine when I got it to fit in the Spyder recess. The holes lined up. More material had to be trimmed off one side than the other. What I did was to hold the shield with the holes lined up on the spyder, & then took a magic marker & traced the shape of the recess on the shield. Then cut as needed. A little at a time till it fit just perfect.
