Hi there:
Had a set of saddlebags that I picked up during a trip to Thailand. They attatched very easy to the handle grips on either side of the bike. However I found they angled inward and would rub on the black plastic side panels. I made two brackets out of 1/8" aluminum sheet and had them powder coated. They hold the bags away from the side panels. May not be everyones cup of tea but I like them (yah I know, they have HD symbols on them but what the h___ ! )
I have a backrest I made getting powder coated and upholstered as well as a GPS mount getting powder coated... will post some pics when I get them installed. Awaiting the 1" riser and a throttlemaster cruise control.
Having trouble postng pics but will keep tying...

Yeah, they are too large to upload. Try resizing to under 70K and/or load at a site like imageshack.com and just link to the pics.

A few questions if you do not mind...

How did you attach the bracket to the Spyder?

Would you be willing to shoot a photo with the bracket/bags from behind the bike?

Do I see that you put two 90 degree bends in the bracket? (I'm having a hard time seeing it all in the shadows.)

Thanks!

The bottom of the brackets was cut the same shape as the silver flame design of the spyder. two right angle bends brought it out approx. 2" from the frame. I used the motercycle exhaust bracket bolt on one side and a regular bolt with spacer on the other (have another exhaust bolt/spacer coming so they look the same..expensive ....around $40). Am going to try posting some larger pics so you can see what I'm talking about... can take one off and take more pics if anyone wants some.

will take some more pics tommorrow..and repost

Simple but effective and they look good to. Can we see a picture from the back?

Here's some pics of one of the saddlebag brackets off the bike. The 2nd one is the same with the bends reversed. The bottom was cut/filed to match the bottom of the "flame" piece where the muffler attatches to the bike. A normal bolt with a spacer and large washer can be used on the side oposite the muffler. The back view should have been taken outside (better detail).
