Okay, we just got our Integratr's yesterday as we were leaving for work so no time to try them out last night. But when we got home, we decided to get started. First step, installing the headsets into our helmets. This is a real bugger. Now I know why they offer to have you send your helmet in to them and they charge $50.00. Can be time consuming and you must be very careful. I did get my headset installed though and my ear pieces fit like a glove. They look like they are built into the side of my helmet. The way my helmet is set up, I have a pretty thick piece of foam that goes between the ear piece and my ear. I was concerned that I would be able to hear through all that foam and that I may have to cut some of it away. I hooked my ipod up and my cell phone and they have an FM tuner as part of the Integratr. I got on my Spyder and took it out at speeds of just over 70 so I could get an idea of the sound. Fantastic. My ipod sounds great, the radio is wonderful, the station I listen to comes in clear as a bell (strange saying). I did not try to make a phone call on the Spyder, but I can call through my helmet, we tested it at home. Now we just have to wait for our T-series Motorola's to get here (Friday) and we can put the bike to bike to the test, both with VOX and PTT. I will keep you updated.

It is wired, but the wires come on and off very easily. I keep the Integratr in my tank bag for now. My husband is talking about trying to hardwire it to the Spyder after we get Ken's powerbus installed. We will see. I really don't mind the wires because I am getting to use all the things I need and want to use. I don't think it is a cluttered look at all. This weekend after we have our radios, I will take and post some pictures of the whole set up. As I mentioned, the hardest part was installing the headset into the helmet. But the sound quality is really good. Way better than the cheap headsets we had with our Midland two way radios. But if you want totally wireless, this is not what you are looking for.

Here's a few photos of helmet install before I left for work, these aren't the greatest and maybe Brian will post some of his later.

Here is a photo of the earpiece mounted flush with the helmet wall and under the foam innards;Posted Image

Here is a photo of the small part that is mounted on the side of your helmet to connect the wires to. You can take this wire on and off as needed, so all that would be there all the time is this small part.

Here is a photo with the upper wire coming out. You connect a lower wire to this and that connects to the Integratr.

Sorry I don't have time to get better or more pics, but I will try this weekend with the whole set up and on the bike and everything.

Just an added note, on my way to work yesterday, I took the expressway. I could hear the FM radio unit in my helmet with no problem and I did not have the volume all the up either. I shure hope the radios are this clear and loud for bike to bike when they come in.

Do you have a part# for those Motorola's. And are you sure they will work on a bike . We tried some of them a few years ago and wouldn't work. Reason was there is no wind suppressors on the mikes and they picked up the wind noise so bad you couldn't here anything. :TgC_emoticon142:

We got the Motorola T-Series model 9580. We have used them on our bikes with no problem even at highway speeds. They seem to work pretty well. We have the J & M headsets with microphones installed right inside our helmets. I am sure that helps cut down on the noise.

I talked to Motorola today they told me that the T 9580 will not work on motorcycles as it doesn't have the wind suppressor mike. So how did you get them to work?
Don't you or your hubby have the hwy pegs? If you do do you have the phone # or contact info to get the HWY peg brackets? THANKS Putt

If they are running those units through the J&M system, they will have the J&M headset jacked into them. Therefore, it should not matter if the Motorola units don't have a wind suppressor mic. They wouldn't be using the mic on the unit anyway.

The Motorola as a cord that connects into the Integratr. My headset and microphone, which is installed inside my helmet also connects to the Integratr. I do not talk directly through the radio bike to bike, it is all routed through our Integratr System.

As for the highway pegs and brackets; the brackets were ordered from http://www.billetbikeparts.com/ and the pegs themselves came from http://www.directlineparts.com/ I hope this helps you.

Hate to bug you again but which J & M system did you use? We found several some were quite expensive.

They have velcro that you can apply but we did not need it. The holes that we cut are just enough to fit the speaker into. It is a nice tight secure fit. The styrofoam just holds them for you. Oh goodness, which ones did we get? I know we didn't buy the most expensive because there is very little difference. Okay, I found my order from Sierra Electronics, here you go Product ID: JM-HS-BCD277-FF
Product Name: JM-HS-BCD277-FF-DUAL MODE HEADSET FULL FACE
Quantity: 2
Unit Price: $140.00
CORD OPTION : JM-HC-PWY J&M INTEGRATR/JMCB-2003 (+$21.50)

I hope this helps.

We got the Integratr IV. It has all the functions we wanted in one unit for a lot less expense than many other systems. Of course, there are a lot of wires to deal with. If you can afford some of the other things, the convenience may be worth it. We did get a great deal fro Sierra Electronics though. http://www.sierra-mc.com/jandm.asp Quite honestly, the cost of the headsets it what really jacked up our costs but I think they were worth it. We can hear each other at highway speeds and our music as well. By the way, it is no bother, you can ask questions anytime you want.
