I have just notice the spyder seems to have an oil leek......

i have read the posts re the air box and being overfull

i have checked the levels and yes it is full and possibly the cause

but as i have no idea i thought i would post a pic of the drip which is leaving a small puddle on the ground...from under the spyder (pic is take from the left of the spyder....same side as the one where you check the oil)

any thoughts or suggestion would be great.

noticed it today after riding for 15 minutes....

got home let sit for about half an hour.....

more oil on the ground

checked where it was parked last night and again more oil patches

i removed the cover and all appears ok.....

I would check your crankcase breather tube. It's on that side of the bike.

This was a experiment that didn't work that great but this is where you need to look.

Picture one is dust, apparently oil soaked, from the belt THE DUST IS NORMAL as it is a new belt and sprockets are getting polished up. The oil is not ok? Did you check you oil level per the book?

I installed Ken's air filter and removed the Large front rubber 'intake' breather tubes.

I don't see why they put those there - except maybe they were afraid that water could splash up into the air box - which should be a problem - IF the filter has a tight seal.

I should have also have noted that in Ken's filter instructions he states you can remove those tubes for better performance.

I agree with him - I think they were only there to keep any possible water from splashing up into the filer box - which should be difficult to do.

Perhaps when it rains they keep it nice and dry in there?

I'm not really a rain-ryder - so I'm keeping them out for now..... ;-)

My Spyder also has a small oil leak but in a different spot. It seems to be coming from the oil output line to the Oil cooler. The Shop Manual shows two bolts holding it in place with an O ring behind. It is seeping there, not from above. I checked it out well. It isn't bad so I will report it before my first inspection so a new O ring can be ordered. I will ask to have them silicone it as well just to make sure it seals up well.

THANKS FOR THE INFO.......unfortunately i am lost after the first sentence......but i will take it to the dealer and he can sort it.....

oil is very full and after reading the other threads i was assuming it was due to this.

i dont know where the airbox is so did not know if it was coming from there or not......

sorry no mechanical brains at all.....
