Thanks for the info. I guess I am jumping the gun asking about it as I take delivery next week. I would imagine that the supplier of the muffler should come up with another revised unit at no cost to BRP. A blemish like that just spoils the look of a wonderful bike!!

I spoke with my dealer about the burn spot. They called Can Am and they are going to warranty the pipe. The pipe will be in next week for installation. The issue they must address is the catalytic converter that is in the muffler. The heat is the issue. You are so right it does take away from great look of the bike.
Good Luck and ride safe..............

Hi my story is a little different than everybody else's. My exhasut burn mark appeared about around 300 miles. I notified my dealer who put in a claim with BRP and one and a half months later I get a brand new Exhaust installed on my Spider. I now have about 500 miles on the new pipe and the same exact burn mark has reappeared! I'm not sure if I'm going to put another claim in for the pipe. I've pretty much decided to build my own custom pipe with Evolution's Instal Pipe he has in the works. I'm just a little upset the BRP sent me the same defective pipe back to me. They could have explained that they are still trying to fix the design flaw on the pipe and that the wait would be a little longer. I would have been totally ok with that. Oh Well?

The odd thing about this is that Marc Lacroix told us on our Chat tonight that BRP was working with their supplier on the problem, but didn't have a replacement yet. Sounds like your dealer got a replacement for a defective exhaust, but maybe didn't indicate it was the burn spot issue

First of all it is raining, bo ho !! My Spyder will get here this week and I hope the rain stops long enough to get it here into the garage. Thanks for the info on the Muffler and if the spot appears, I'll wait for the revised Muffler. I will mention it to the dealer but here in Canada the first Spyders on the road are still in either Garages or Crates so my Dealer has not had any dealings with the hot spots. I can't wait to at least have mine in the Garage.

makes a difference on how you drive the Spyder as I was in break in mode and never spun
the motor over 6500 RPM.

That is interesting. It dosn't look like it would take long to burn all the way through.

When I spoke to the service manager at Mission Motorsports in Irvine I can clearly recall him understanding the problem with the exhaust pipe....he came outside and looked at the burn spot. He then brought out his digital picture and sent the picture to BRP. All I know next is that my new exhaust pipe had arrived one month later. I had it installed and now there is another burn mark on it. So maybe BRP did send me another defective exhaust pipe without having a resolution. I agree it was just a waste of money! and time.
