I just got my Spyder and have used the parking break once prior to today. Today the parking break stuck down and I couldn't get it to release. When after about 20 minutes it finally released but the parking break light is still flashing and when you press down on the parking break it no longer clicks. It goes down and comes right back up but the parking break is not engaged on it. Anyone have any ideas? I am about 12 hours from the closest dealer and would like to try to fix it myself. I have since found out that some people say to spray it with WD 40 but I'm not sure that will fix my problem since something is either already stuck or broke. Thanks

Hi Johnnyrebel,

If you get some good penetrating fluid and spray the springs and surronding parts around the rear brake pedal mechanism, you won't have any problems with the sticking any longer. I know when I first received my Spyder I actually had to use my foot and lift up on the ebrake to get it to release and the above fix corrected the problem and I haven't had a problem since.
I hope you the best,
Thank You & God Bless,
Randy

Check the rubber gasket on the right side and make sure you did not step on hard enough to smash it around the cable. The park brake is ratchet system and you don't need to fully compress it, just a couple 3 clicks and it and going no where. Over time as the pad wears you may have to add a click. Use a flicking action to release it. If you are trying to release it while sitting on it, that will take practice. If you just catch it with your toe and flick it while standing next to it, it should realese.
