I believe he is referring to 2 x 5 w is referring to two five watt lights. The 2 x 5/21 w Tail/brake light I believe refers to two five watt for the tail light circuit and two 21 watt brake lights. and the license plate light is a single ten watt light. I hope this helps.

Thanks, I know that it means 2 of this wattage and 1 of that wattage but if I want to replace them with equivalent LED lights I need to know the number for each type. Such as 1157 or 1154 or 2057, are they bayonet based 2 contact or single, that's what the numbers will tell me.

I think that will cause problems spyderrider - the LEDs won't pull the same amount of power - and might trigger the computer to think the regular bulbs are burnt out.

Ken is the expert on this stuff. Maybe you would have to use his powerbus system to get around this.

you can change the running lights to l.e.d. but not the turn signals or tail/brakelight (at least not without some type of circuit adapter).

Thanks Ken, I guess the best thing is just to leave them alone. I would like to change the headlight so I can get the best light, I want to be seen coming. Someone mentioned changing the lights to PIAA extreme whites. Are these a good choice or are there better bulbs to go with?

I don't want to spend over $500 to upgrade the light. All I want to do is find a brighter bulb if there is one available. I haven't driven for a few years so I'm starting over when it comes to 2 helmets, 2 rain suits, 2 boots, backrest, luggage and other things so I will be spending a small bundle on these. HID upgrades may come in time.

I need to find a replacement bulb for the Tail/Brake light but all the manual says is 2X 5/21W !?! The dealer I bought it from does not have any replacements bulbs and I want to ride at night without fear of being pulled over. The running light filament is shot, but the brake light filament still works. I tried to find the light at a auto store but the are all numbered without any info. Does anyone happen to know which bulb is usable? Sheesh! A bulb out on my second day after pickup!

it uses a 7528 bulb but you can use an 1157 in a pinch.

The LEDS even with the aftermarket resistors do not work, instant limp home mode. unny huh? plain old bulb for me for the time being. 7528, a pair cost 4 bucks at autozone

Many people have added Hyper-lights in parallel with the stock bulbs without problems.

MMmmmmmmmmm. I may have to change that, thanks

BE CAREFUL - if the control system does not see the resistance of an actual filament it will think the bulb is out and you'll get an error, go into limp mode - problems you don't want to know about.

I added a very bright flashing multi-LED brake light set but added it in parallel with the original brake lights.

:beerchug1: This is standard for any motorcycle -

You can swap out the signal lights with any LED you choose, provided you install a "compatable" (bikes have different load requirments) load equalizer (typically less then $20). A load equalizer is a must (no choice) with auto-canceling modules, and you "must" verify the proper polarity (use existing power and ground - do not jump or short the ground). If you do not have an auto-canceling module the blinkers will flash very fast, and you can risk burning out the LEDs, again you will need the load equalizer matched to your bike's load.
