I really like the cowl as well.....I am going to try to get one pretty soon (after the spydie first) so it will give me a bit of a custom look too. I love the pics by the way....

If you have not checked my FAQ for the Spyder, check the one for the seat cowl to see the warning about installing some protection on the edges of the cowl to prevent paint damage to the tail piece and the side panels. :) . Good to hear you enjoyed the pics. :riding:

Sorry about the damage that was done to your tail piece, but thanks for taking one for the home team! I will make sure that's the first thing I do prior to installing my cowl. Once again thanks for all your pics you post.

As for the seat removal, this is what works for me.
  • Remove the torx screw that secures the rear tip piece.
  • Remove the rear tip piece
  • Remove the metal clip on the gaz shock at the seat connection point.
  • Disconnect the seat sensor wiring harness at the frame connection.

The seat will now tilt back to allow easy access to the 3 bolts that secure it in place.

As for the seat skin doing damage to the original seat material, I don't see why it should, but time will tell if I'm incorrect I guess. :)

As for the seat feeling any different as for the ride, did not notice any yet, only a 30 mile trip back home with it.

As for the cowl, I'll be putting it back on in a few days, but I don't expect it be effected by the skin, I'll update this post when I have the cowl back on. :)

I bought the same seat skin and I can not get the rear tip piece off. What am I doing wrong. I unscrewed the torx screw that secures the rear tip piece, but I am lost from there. Please help.
