Not to mention the 93 stays in the ground much longer than the 87.... so it is automatically 'old'.
Very well could be your problem.
The Rotax also likes to warm up.... let it get to 1 or 2 bars before taking off.

Interesting looking tanks, but where would you mount it on a Spyder? As to MSR bottles, I have thought of that, but is the mouth wide enough to fill with a standard gas station nozzle?
the MSR is your emergency supply, you don't use it every time you fill up. Fill the MSR's at home, with a funnel, from your lawnmower gas can. Or toss a cheap plastic funnel in your nose trunk to use for emergency. Save the MSR's for when you run SLAP EMPTY!!
the tourtanks are made to be mounted on the tail rack. They drain from gravity, preferably into the primary tank once it has run low, with a manual petcock. Plumbing to use with FI is morecomplex, since you'd need a return line from the fuel pump for pumped excess to get back to the auxiliary. No need. Run the primary tank down low enough to take the extra gallon or two from the tour tank, and look for a gas station at your convenience. Of course, a bit of luggage space is going to be lost if you go with a tour tank, but the primary concern in this discussion was how to add extra range for touring on the Spyder.
I doubt that you could put a tourtank in the nose trunk as they have to be higher than the primary tank to drain into it (gravity is our friend!!) A pump could be rigged to do the job, but only adds extra layers of complexity and another opportunity for Murphy...

Well, let's see...
Make a list of vehicles that have the following qualities:
- A 5-Speed Roadster
- Does 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds
- Gets 30 to 35 miles per gallon.
That's a mighty short list. The Spyder is more a performance ride than an economical one.

Lotus Elise and Exige (are 6 speed roadsters)...
of course they also cost in the $60K range. I have seen a couple of others, one even a 3 wheeler as well, but they are all hand-built jobs that are in the "oh My GOD!" price ranges.
