The states that currently do not require a motorcycle endorsement/special license for the Spyder are :

California
Delaware
South Carolina

If there are others, please post and I will update this list. :)

It might be a good idea to identify the licensing requirements for all states/territories and "pin" it as an IMPORTANT TOPIC. Just a thought.... :)

It might be a good idea to identify the licensing requirements for all states/territories and "pin" it as an IMPORTANT TOPIC. Just a thought.... :)


Insurance companies classify them as motorcycles and most require a M/C endorsement before insuring, regardless of state.

Currently in Maryland, we are not able to receive tags for them. The MVA or DMV does not have a description that allows the Spyder to be registered in MD. at this time. This should be resolved in the beginning of 2008.

May I ask which insurance company(s) informed you of this requirement ?
