Going through the power band road speeds, RPMS 3000-5000. Just coming back down on the RPMS after a smooth acceloration. I get a tap on my left shoulder, look in the mirror and there is my belt flying down the road. 90 miles on since Friday afternoon. I am 30 miles from home and everyone I know that has trailer is gone for the weekend or busy. I call my dealer at 11:46 AM, they close at new. That awesome guy came out and got me. Spydie is setting in the shop and waiting for a new belt. Just a clean straight break????? For now, I am sure BRP will want to see it.

Wow,
Please keep us posted. I hope this is not a flaw in the belt design. Maybe it was not adjusted properly or something like that.

tharkun made a remark that his belt was sensitive to adjust during PDI..and when he backs up or turns the belt shows that it moves against the sprocket... untill he goes straight for a little ways then is back to center??
I'll have to wait till i get mine to check it out but sounds like the swingarm ,or something.is giving under
sideway's torque.not sure but i would think the belt should stay in the center after aligment. or to much of rubbing on inside of sprocket. would be TROUBLE ..(belt failure) .keep us posted.90mi dang

I have always had doubts about that belt do to the sheer length of it. BRP reps swore to me that it has not been an area of concern and they had no problems with it ......now I wonder ??

Many of the demo Spyders had well over 10,000 abusive miles. I hope this does not become a pattern. I will keep a keen eye on my belt for the next few hundred miles.

Now I know you said the belt broke and that is probably a bad belt from the supplier but what bothers me is that the rear sproket doesn't have a guide on it to stop the belt from going either way. I look at the set up and see that the belt is long and adusting it is critical but on the test drives we all drove the crap out of them with no problems. Just make me wonder????

My dealer saw first off that a better guard should have been put on. There is, GOD forbid, a lot of area for a cat or something tho get in ther flying down the road.
