Correction on the garge thing, many dealers also sell it. IF you check the bottom of the report out it was a certified test. I am really glad you said Rotax is Castrol, that is thee worst oil next to Penzoil any any test I have ever seen. Makes is really easy to NOT use Castrol. Mobile 1 may have friction modifiers and not good for wet clutch.

Amsoil has ruined many a 2 stroke outboard motor. Back in their early days they would recommend that it be run at a 100-1 ratio. While that may have been acceptable for a 5hp motor, it wasn't for the high HP mills. Even today, outboard 2 strokes that use Amsoil have razor sharp piston ring edges and a "dry" condition on interior engine parts....not what good lubrication should do!

Maybe their 4 stroke oil is better ??

Mobil 1 makes a V twin motor cycle oil that is designed for use with wet clutches. Royal Purple makes one too, under the name Max Cycle.

I'm not promoting Amsoil for the Spyder necessarily, but I have put thousands of miles on 2 stroke snowmobiles using Amsoil with no problems at all.

More than likely the best thing to do is contact Rotax and ask them what they recommend.

They of course recommend Rotax which someone said was Castrol.

Thank you for input and I agree when it comes to 2 stroke out board motors. Had many and they can be very temperamental when it comes to oil as it is burring it. No Synthetic, I not think, should be used with outboards. Good discussion going. I like

Thanks for all the info on oils. You are right about Castrol making BRP oil. My Dealer did tell me that it was the supplier. I have always been a beleiver in synthetic oils and only use it in my cars. As far as the Spyder goes, changing oil every 3000 miles, wouldn't you think that BRP would work as well as the others? As far as the warranty goes, I don't want the dealer to question what I put into the crankcase so I will buy their oil till the bike is my problem.

I am going with what my dealer suggested, go with Rotax Syn for the first year so we are dead on with any warranty issues and then switch, He has Amsoil on the shelf for all the BRP ATV, Water Craft, Snowmobiles etc.
