I put the laminar lip on the tall touring shield I drilled in 4 places through both and used rubber mounts that have studs on each end to position the lip for better defectionof the air. I have not installed chrome mounting hardware yet, which is why I have not posted pictures. This set up works for me I am 5'10" tall. I will try to get pictures on in a few days.

So if with the BRP "Touring shield" you at 5'10' were still getting wind?

Is there any helmet buffeting with your current set up or is it keeping well above your head?

Can you tell, or do you know anyone that is over 6' that has had success with the set up?

Yes I got to much wind with the BRP touring shield with the 10" universal Laminar Lip mounted Drilling through the windshield and through the lip so I can get a better angle to deflect the wind. I still get some wind But I find it much better and I can see over it. I dont want to look thru a windshild. I am trying to get a camera to post pics. Paul

A nice power windshield (like BMW) would cure the problem for most people. Capable of stopping at any height in it's full range.

Here is the 10" (Univ. Cruiser) Laminar Lip installed on the Touring Windscreen. I used (4) 1/4-20 nylon screws with self-locking nuts. The bottom screws have a few rubber washers between the lip and the screen for "angular flexibility". On the top screws I used 1/2" long spacers with rubber washers on both ends to created an angular mount. These spacers can be increased to 3/4" for more angle.

So far, so good. Been up to 80 MPH. Certainly better than Touring screen alone.

I would definitely want a windshield that deflected the air over my head. My touring version puts it into my face.

Ken:
Add me to the list!!!
Thanks,

I traveled on Interstate 95 this morning doing about 75 mph and up to 85 mph. I have the short stock windshield and the wind is a lot from the chest up. Leaning forward I could feel the wind start to go over my helmet and was thinking that the touring windshield should help. My dealer did not have all my options in yet, but I have one coming. I will update more once I get it. Also leaning forward is not a position I would like to stay in long. In an emergency it would be hard to give it the steering input needed. Remember the SPYDER is not like the motorcycle some of us are used to. The SPYDER was very stable at the 85 mph.

The 14" touring windshield is not better. At 65 mph the wind on your chest will try to push your helmet off. It is cold in SC. I have tried both a full face and open face with full visor helmets. Bikeshield.com has a taller unit for $50.00 more. I wish I had saved my money. BRP 14" is a joke it will not get rid of the blast!!

I still love the ride.

I thought it was all about the open air experiance. You guys are butchering a beautiful machine,at first with cheap looking saddle bags and exhaust and now you are screwing a piece of plastic to the$23000 masterpiece (just my thoughts).Enjoy the air,the freedom and the odd bug, if not ,for $50 buy a full face helmet.

No hard feelings!!!

I think the site is bikescreen.com. That's the one that shows a larger 26" windshield on a Spyder.

Correct but I guess higher speeds could get the screen cracked at the bolts due to forces

That screen looks awfully tall. If the touring screen, at 14 inches, puts the wind in my visor, I cannot imagine that it would take another 12 inches to move it above my helmet. (and I'm just about 6 foot tall).

I would think that approximately 18 inches would do it with that curved edge on the shield.

Am I missing something?

seems like they could fab an aftermarket cowl, lighthousing etc.. or even an bolt on cowl mask for the front end..

incorporate a new angle wind screen and maybe som handle covers.. etc.

just my .02

um the really tall shield looks wackey.. but if it is functional, that is what counts.
SEE HOW I WAS RIPPED OFF BY JACKSONVILLE POWERSPORTS

Please do not make the same mistake I did!!!

I agree completely.

I have the 26 inch windshield and it changes the entire appearance.
Don't have another option at this point.
If you enjoy the wind in your face, keep it stock and your in good shape.

Looks want be so important when you are on a trip, and it starts pouring rain or hail or a big tempature drop. I rode out to Yellowstone on a Suzuki in the last two weeks in July camped out woke up to 4" of snow. You will love the big windshield then won't look so bad either. Like I said a POWER WINDSHIELD like BMW has would be THE ANSWER. Down for looks & more wind; & up for more protection. And all with just one (1) windshield. In the last 50 yrs. of riding I've been in it all. Trust me.
