do you know if your dealer knew the trucks were on the way and did not tell you? or was it a suprise when they just showed up.
From the info I have from my dealer here in CA, the Spyders are being shipped on a carrier called ICE, a freight handler. So the dealer knows they are on a truck, but has no clue of day/time the truck will arrive.
It is the same trucks that all Can-Am products arrive on to my dealer.

Good to see a Spyder owner in the area.
No OTD price yet, depends on the shipping and actual PID time. I ordered some accessories as well, and could not get the install prices because no one knows the actual time required. But Dave is a good person and have faith he will be fair and not rip us off.
Placed the order back in April without having a demo ride, if I had waited for the demo rides I would have been
#3 and did not want to loose out on the first shipment. Keep in touch and we can meet up for a ride.
The display was for in the store, suppose to surround a Spyder and have all the accessories on display.
HID lights 1 1/2 -2 hrs
Fog lights 1/2 - 1 hr
Most other items 1/2 hr or less
This is a conservative labor hrs.
I have almost all access. and discussed with the western rep during a demo ride they were running.
My dealer and I have settled on an estimate of 10 hrs for installation and a discount on the labor rate due to them learning on my bike.

just called my dealer in MA, he sounded very frustrated with BRP. He was told last week they would ship and arrive this week, he was told the week prior that the would ship that week, he called the rep and now the rep is telling him it will ship next week and he will talk to me some time next week! Now Im into November??? This totally BLOWS!! I am now 8 months waiting and counting still, Ill be making payments on something I cant ride due to snow and winter weather by the time this thing arrives. If it does not arrive by November 3rd, I am requesting my full deposit back (5,000) and Ill wait until spring when they show up in 2008, why make payments on something you cant touch for another 5 or so months. I know that brp has made the 600, that they are ramping down to produce sleds and other equipment and will re-tool and restart the line for spyders in January, so there is no god given reason why mine wont ship, unless it is simply because my dealer only sold a few of them (10) so far. He has been told he is only getting 1 in oct, 1 in nov, 1 in december according to a fax from BRP, which I saw personally. I am in hopes BRP is NOT putting him off until the larger 2008 delievery, I will be more than pissed then,,,,,

I spoke to my dealer and he told me about the BS of them shipping to the south and west first. They have to go right by my dealer (literally 2 miles from the interstate that they come down from canada).

Do you think that "limited quanity" is the 600?
Actually no. The "first production" is the 600 of the "limited quantity" 2500.

Makes sense since those up north will be hidden away in garages for the next 6 months and those down south will be ridden around and getting the exposure.

Hmmmm discrimination based on location,,,,,, hmmmm where is my lawyer's number,,,,,, I ordered at the very begining,,,, back in march, yet those that ordered later get them first becuase they live in the south? *%@!!!!! BRP is sitting very bad right now up in the north with many I have spoken with, including dealers. dealers up here are complaining about the lack of communications, the lack of delivery and other issues dealing with BRP.

'Guess I never thought of the limited production of 600 in 3Q07 that way. Make only a few for the warmer climates in the fall, then shift production to make the sleds for the winter. But it makes perfect sense from a marketing point of view. Put the product out there where it will be seen, not idle in a garage. NOT saying that it's fair, tho.
I hope none are being shipped to Southern California right now...They may not make it the way things are going...More important things to worry about there (saving homes & lives).

It seems as if some people have said they receieved their Spyders, but where are the photos? Some pics of the number on the steering would be nice. And from what dealer it came from... then maybe we could map the route the trucks took.

b*tching and complaining aside, I agree and my heart goes out to all those that have lost so much. Those that have lost, have lost material things to be replaced at some point possibly and no greater gift than that of life is saved. Still,,, my prayers are with all those in southern cal going through those fires.

We're fine in southern California. Ash in the air makes riding a tad carcenogenic.
I was thinking about selling my ninja 250 to anyone who lost their bike in the fires.
Issues still remain on the top of everyone's minds:
What is the status of our orders? BRP? Dealerships? Beuller?
The manufacturer needs to contact the dealers announcing their shipment or delivery dates.
The dealer needs to take initiative and ask the manufacturer.
The dealer needs to contact clients to reassure them. Would this situation be called lack of professionalism or lack of customer service?
I was promised delivery in October - I'll give the dealer (I no longer call them "my" dealer) until November 1.
Get the Spyders to the people who ordered first, in the order they were received at BRP,
or face official complaints against the dealership and BRP to the Department of Corporations and the Better Business Bureau.

I don't understand...how can a order be put in, like yours in May and the dealer says you'll get it in October. I hope you do but the first 600 orders were sold way before that. I know its all confusing. At least it is for me.. and how can we say they should be delived in order? If that were the case then you really wouldn't see your because by the time you ordered your the orders were into the 1000 mark (Hit 1000 sold May 2nd)
Good Luck and see ya on the road

Just wondering... what was the total price, and the break down of total
1. cost of spyder
2. shipping
3. set up fee
4. added accessories
5. tax
6. any other added cost
7. total out the door
Thanks,
Phil

After reading so many posts about promised delivery dates, delivery times, I'm curious if all who purchased signed the same " 2008 CAN-AM SPYDER ROADSTER PRE-ORDER CERTIFICATE/WORKSHEET" as I did.
#4 states " Accept delivery of your new MY2008 Spyder roadster by October 1, 2007 or within 10 calendar days from delivery to your dealer (whichever falls last).
#5 states " Acknowledge that, due to the limited number of units produced, it is not possible for your dealer to guarantee a delivery date earlier than March 2008. Only 600 Limited Edition Spyder roadsters will be delivered in North America in the fall of 2007; plus, an additional 1,500 Limited Edition Spyder roadsters will be delivered between January and March 2008. Each authorized Spyder dealer will receive a limited quanity of roadsters, and will be taking deposits on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Each dealer will also manage the allocation of their units to their consumers having submitted a deposit. BRP is not liable for any delay in delivery or for the allocation of the roadsters."
I'm far from being a lawyer, but my understanding of the agreement I have signed and agreed to, well I would have liked to have taken delivery by Oct 1st, BRP has until March 2008 to deliver my unit. Prior to siging the order sheet, I had asked about the shipping, and was told by the dealer that they expected it so be the same process as ordering other BRP/Can-Am products. Once they placed the order, they would receive conformation of how many units, and what months they would receive them. Other than that, they would be just as much in the dark about the "exact date" they would arrive as I would be.
I'm not trying to start a flame war, nor am I defending BRP, all I'm showing is that in my case, I do not have any legal reasons to complain, so far BRP has performed as they have stated.
So I'm still waiting, trying not to bug the dealer, as he has promised to call me as soon as the truck is in the yard. Also has agreed to me being there to help with the un-crating of my Spyder.

I signed the same Pre-Order and Tharkun is correct we just have to have patience. I order mine in March and my dealer says that it should be in any day as I am third on my dealers list. There is only so much a dealer can do to get you the answer that you want to hear. It would be nice though for there to be a little more communication on the delivery to the dealers so that they could have a better idea to inform their customers. I am like Tharkun and just waiting for my call and then see how fast I can get to my dealer with my trailer to haul it home for my first ride.

Another thought while having coffee this morning, if BRP had a fleet of their own trucks, and allowing for the size of the Spyder, each truck/trailer should carry 16 units. Using the numbers of 600 units being shipped to 150 dealers, this would require 37.5 trucks . To keep all customers happy and all receive their Spyder the same week, it would be a scheduling nightmare to get all trucks to the dealers, not to mention getting all the units thru our US Customs/Boarder Protections sites and have them arrive on a specific date.
BRP has used multiple freight companies, and well some do have good tracking systems, it seems the majorty are not up to date, and once they have your cargo you are lucky if they make the estimated date, let alone keep you updated. First that comes to mind is Yellow freight, I now refuse to have anything shipped by them.
BRP, Kawasaki,Honda and others all have similar shipping/delivery issues. Usually the customer is not involved in it, they simply walk into a dealership, by a unit that is in stock, drive off. Being the first owners of a Spyder in my opinion, has both good and bad perks, but I understood that going in and will continue waiting, watching the last of our good weather pass each day. True us here in CA do have an extended riding season, but we still have our "winter" weather and I will have mine parked in its Spyder garage. I spent 5 years in upstate NY and dealt with the winters there and in the New England area, and can relate to the frustration of owners in those areas. Hopefully all Spyders will be delivered soon, and we all will have good stories to share.
