Daytona Bound…. Well I was hoping to have my Spyder by now but that’s life I guess. I am heading out to Daytona today and heading for the Spyder demo ride on the speedway. I feel lucky that I got in early to sign up for the ride and I will have the chance to take a ton more pictures too boot. I will be asking questions, but not putting much weight on it all. I will let you know how it goes and post any pictures I can. Talk to you all later!!

I got to go on the Daytona demo ride yesterday. I counted at least 16 bikes. Tonight I drive the 100 plus miles back to Daytona to do the Speedway ride !

I guess I will find out.. I did hear from a rep that they will be doing this again in March.... but I will confirm. This was in the planning for a long time and I think they thought things might have turned out a bit different when there event planning started

Back from spending Thursday and Friday at Daytona. The BRP people, both those from Canada and the US were extremely pleasant...I feel like they were friends ! I went for the road ride on Thursday and did the Speedway run last night. That was a once in a lifetime experience! BRP is planning to hold several more owner events in the future.

The stories about the bikes not fitting on the trucks were just that...stories. Each bike will be individually boxed for shipment. Problems with vendor supplied parts helped hold up the production. Once the initial 600 are delivered there will be no more deliveries until early 2008. The plant that makes the Spyder will be producing other BRP products until January, when Spyder production will again resume.

Judging from the public interest seen at the Daytona events, BRP has a winner on their hands. Your Spyder will be worth waithing for, just have patience !! The production models will have some 120 changes from the demo prototypes. Most changes are not visable, but they all make the production Spyders a better product.

By the way....BRP employees read these posts regularly !!

Most of the 120 changes made to the production Spyders can not be seen from the outside. A few of the noticable changes are; a shroud over the instrument panel for better daytime viewing, using a different seat vinyl...has a smooth finish now. softer seat foam, cooling vent changes, plastic covering over the front suspension..both on the top as well as the bottom tie rods, rubber covering on emergency brake pedal, lowered brake pedal by 10mm, different type of foot brake and shifter rubber covering, wider diameter hand grips, change to the instrument cluster regarding starting proceedure, a different more durable finish on the muffler. There may be more visable changes, but these are what I remember being pointed out by the BRP rep.

By the way, 60% of all Spyders sold have been ordered in silver with 40% going for yellow.
