I have a question for anyone out there. I'm thinking of getting a Spyder RT but was wandering if anyone knew of anyway to get more power out the the 998cc Rotax V-Twin engine?

You just might be surprised at how much power it already has . I was worried after going from a Goldwing but not anymore ....it has more than enough. You may have to downshift every now and then to apply the power but its there. Double up on I75 thru KY and Tenn and kept up with traffic ( 80-85 ) with no problems , even up the mountains.Bigger engine would prob help with gas mileage but for get up and get...its plenty.

Best way to decide is to test ride one and see what you think. Some dealers will let you take it on the road and others won't......find one that does the road test. Going from 2 wheels to the spyder is a total different ride , even different from a regular trike. We're about 400lbs riding two up and if I crank the throttle you best hold one.

Thanks bigjohn I'll have to check on that test ride. I've been on ATV's and I'm told it's very similar to that.

There are some places where you can rent one. Sometimes a test ride is not long enough.
Never stop questioning. (Happy Spyder owner)

It's all subjective, but I run out of nerve before I run out of motor.

I put over 40K miles on an RT and never ran out of power, whether 2 up or even pulling a trailer.

You must realize that the power band is higher then the normal motorcycle at 3K to the 6K for the Rt.

Also you will need to drop a gear to get the RPM's in to a higher power band when you want more power.
the RT does not come with extra power like the goldwing but the required power is there you just need to not be lazy and work the engine.
