Im considering purchasing a HUD to use on my 2011 Spyder RTS it connects to the OBD which I know nothing about and thought perhaps others have considered or even have done this. Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks in advance

actually a HUD is a Heads Up Display perhaps you have seen some in fighter jets and some of the newer automobiles. From what I have read there are no applications on motorcycles and since I have found a device I now want to install it but need the OBD info about pin assignments. The only computer interface I have found is the six pin connector on the right front under the cover. Is there any other than anyone knows of and does anyone know which pins do what?

The connector pins, I think (could be wrong) are only active during communication with B.U.D.S.
So, in order to get any data you would have to first emulate a BUDS session.
Not a trivial task.

The HUD unit will display speed, rpm, temp, fuel level and battery charge. It will display on the windshield which I intend to have mirror coated like sunglasses perhaps only mirror coating the lower half. The small unit will sit above the safety info card area of the "dash" The unit is hard wired to the lines that go to the analogue gauges so as to needing to decode BUDS it will not be necessary. When the install is complete I will provide pics. Right now I am in the process of descrambling the electrical and anyone with any help here would be appreciated. The cost of the unit was $160 so its a cheep install once complete. I think the mirror coating will cost as much as the unit.
