first problem was a road pebble struck the parking brake assembly and caused a major failure becaause the pebble flew up fast enought to mar the plastic part causing a failure. It required the part to be replaced but I think it a bit stupid to have a plastic part 4.5inches from the ground by the rear tire, the part should have had a shield or been made of metal to prevent this kind of mishap. Fortunately it caused the failure with the parking brake not to be engauged which meant i had to park on flat ground till i found a brick or block of wood.
The other problems are the following. The front trunk latch did not function properly and required a cable replacement and now the glove box does not lock when the spyder has the handlebars locked. The dealer service dept will take care of this when the do the 600 mile work but I have been told it requires removal of the whole handle bar assembly to get at the latch mechanism for the glove box. I notice another problem as well which is odd. If you look at your odometer there is a little light which is white and shows MPH at the bottom of the odometer at about the 7 oclock area. There is also writing for the tachometer at the same location which shows rpm but that light does not work. My service person checked other Spyders and they too are not illuminating. They will take this up with BRP and when they remove the handlbars will check to see if there is a misplaced bulb or wiring problem there as well. I love my spyder but have had it more in the shop than on the road and this bothers me with a brand new vehicle having all these design and well as feature problems. BRP needs to get their act together about this stuff if they really want to make a market dent with thier products. At their price NOTHING should be wrong with a new vehicle.
Has anyone else had these kinds of problems and what were the solutions. I am interested in this tach light issue and the glove box and front trunk issue but also about the parking brake issue I have mentioned.
