I used to run 100% premium grade. But after several tests I find the Middle grade to work great. I saw a clear drop in MPG when using the lower grade, almost no performance (Clearly could have been in my head) or MPG drop when using the Middle grade vs. the Premium. :riding:

They are built for regular gas, 87 octane. None of my three have ever liked anything other than regular. They all ran kind of crappy.

I use the highest octane I can get. The performance and mileage is not the only reason I use the higher octane. The main reason is the alcohol that being put in gas. I was told where I get my RT service is to use high octane gas because of the alcohol that being put in the gas now days. And I surely don't mind spending the extra 30 to 40 cents a fill up to keep my motor in top notch shape and to last me a long time. :riding:

All of you are just wasteing your money on anything other than 87 octane. is what they were made to run on. it's not a high performace engine after all.

I get the best millage and performance by not feeding liquid corn to the spyder.

I use 91 octane, no ethanol added gas.

it will run fine on 87 E**, but it uses more fuel and does not feel as smooth.
Modifying the RT for some long distance touring
