It's been a crappy winter here in the Ohio River Valley.

I have spent the time doing mods.
One of the things I did was put an ISCI hand brake on.
It required removing the muffler.
I placed it in an out building to get it out of the way.

Today the weather was a warmish 47F, a lot of the snow had melted and we decided to go for a ride.
Out came the muffler, three bolts and it was on.

The machine roared to life.
Smoke was issuing from the exhaust.
A lot of smoke.

Strange, I thought.

Could it be I had forgotten to reconnect something?
Perhaps I bumped off a wire?
Might I have put in like 10 times the amount of gas stabilizer than called for?
Did I top off the tank with Diesel fuel?

The engine purred but continued to belch smoke.
Gray and kind of strange smelling smoke.
I thought the Spyder would tell me in a few miles what was wrong.
I'd limp home and fix it.

Off we went.
The Spyder performed flawlessly.
We decided to stop at a Subway Sandwich Shop.

I killed the engine. We went inside.
From the order line we could see our ryde.
I stared at the menu board convincing myself that extra cheese might just lower my cholesterol.
Wife asks "Why is there exhaust still coming out of the Spyder?"
Why indeed.

I shot out to inspect.
I smelled the exhaust.
Without the added Rotax induced hydro carbon emissions, I could identify the smell:
Barbecued Rodent (don't ask how I know, but I know)

61 miles later I successfully completed the cremation of Mickey. All is well.

Funny I didn't receive a Mouse Error icon and an error code ....

Wow, crispy critter. Your pipe was probably a nice cozy condo for the critter. Did you get the remains out and did the exhaust sound and different with the little cork in it.?

No,The remains are interred in the muffler/sarcophagus. I doubt if there is anything much left.

Too funny. At least it was the exhaust and not the intake. That could'a been bad. :)

Poor Mickey! Thought he had found a safe place to hide from all those barn cats.
