i have a new garmin gps and am not sure where to get power for it. can anyone help

Which one is it? When I had my 665T, I powered it through a plug I installed on the dash. When I upgraded it to Zumo 660, I direct wired it to my fuse box I had installed earlier. Works great. The dash plug, BTW, is also wired to the fuse box.

Thanks for getting back to me.I have a Zumo 660 . I took the fuse box out of the holder but could not fiqure out how to attatch the wires to it. I was thinking of installing it directly to the battery. As well how did you attatch it to the handle bars.

Wiring direct to battery will work. The reason I wired it to my fuse box I wanted to have it on a switched connection. I had already put in my fuse box, an Eastern Beaver PC-8, to wire the outlets on the dash. I didn't want to overload the battery posts since I already had my battery maintainer on it. I recommend the PC-8 if you decide to go this way. Read up on it here:

I mounted mine on the inside of my handlebar risers. With the risers, I really didn't have room on my handlebars. With the mount you got with the 665 its just a matter of where you want it. Let me know if you have any more questions.
