Personally I opted for the Heli Bars riser. No cutting the handle bar and it really works for me. I had the 3" riser from the dealer and it wasn't enough for me either.
Dimension with the BRP riser are:

* 2 inches taller
* 5 inches rearward

I'm 6'2" with most of my height in my upper body and these Heli works great. No fatigue or soreness in my hands from having to lean forward all the time. I sit straight up now and have driven several 12 hour rides and feel fine. All I know is the Heli's work for me and I would say they have to be the best money I spent for my Spyder.

Solve your problem with the Helibar extension. It's very well made and it doesn't look like an add on device. It's the best Spyder investment you can make. My back problems stopped with the Helibar. I can ride for 2 hours without stopping to recooperate. Be comfortable and enjoy your ride.

I too have the HeliBar riser and love it and it's look. The advantage to some of the other risers is flexibility in positioning the handelebars. The HeliBar riser is one size fits all.

Can anyone provide me with a source for the Helibar extension you are referring to?
