I was just giving the Spyder a check over and looking at changing the oil when I saw this

A stone has been caught up in the belt teeth then forced a hole in the belt from the pressure as it ran over and over the pulley,
I don't know how long it's been like that.
I now have a new belt but at the moment I'm still running the belt with a stone hole.

My suggestion is this. You shoud replace the belt but when doing so inspect the two sprockets for damage. Damage such as protrusions from the surfaces of the sprockets where the belt makes contact should be filed away. A small Dumore grinder can remove the protrusions also. Indentations on the sprockets surfaces will not damage the new belt. The protrusions will eat the belt away at the high spots. If the old damaged belt's longitudinal fibers are only separated where the stone damaged the belt but breaking the perpendicular fibers (width) of the belt the belt should retain it power transmitting capacity and can be countinued to be used. But the sprockets have to be cleaned of any protrusions.

Hi Rob
The best bet for a new belt is to buy via Ebay from the US. BRP want big dollars here.
I plan to bring over a batch of very reasonably priced bolt on belt guard to save those expensive ($760 from BRP but cheaper from the US) drive belts from stones . From Spyderpops who does the "missing air dam " kits.
