Goodday Mates... I am very interested in getting a Spyder but are confused about the licensing requirements... ?

I have a full VIC drivers license but no motorbike license.. I phoned Vicroads and they tell me to get a motorbike license for a bike bigger than 650cc I need to get my learners.....then wait 3 months, then get my license....then wait 12 months before I can get a unrestricted motorbike license?

Is this the only way ?

Thanks !!

Hi Not to sure about Victoria however it is that way here in Sydney, I actually feel that like manual and automatic car licencing brp should approch each state govenment and request a 3 wheel licence that allows a person to ride these only for say 5 years then they can try out for a 2 wheel licence as I know on my daily work riding these there are many people to scared or just unable to cope with getting a 2 wheel licence first then waiting that year to get a spyder. I do feel that riding these is way easier than 2 wheels plus there is that idea that I am going to fall over on the first turn on 2 wheels!

in nsw you have to get your ls first then wait 3 yrs to get a full licence unless u r over a certain age the u just need to get ls then 3mths go 4 blacks if u have a open car licence and the test u do on a normal road bike wont wrk for a spyder due to the most test dont suit it so u need to do a road side test on the spyder then if u pass u get ya full licence and dont forget that riding a spyder is completly different to a two wheeler as you know if u have riden one u have to steer it with the bars and not lean to turn if u havnt riden b4 it will b easier to ride a spyder than a two wheel :D

The difference is of course that the Spyder is registered as a car in Victoria but you still require a full motorcycle licence to ride one.
